Wink Toad Meets Dog! ~ and both live to tell the Tail!

This afternoon one of my furry cannines had an encounter with this fellow. My man came running in and said "you better check her, she is foaming at the mouth after biting a toad!"

Well, she was. White foam. We flushed out her mouth several times and she stopped right away. I think it is some kind of stuff the toad has as a protection. One shot is of the spot the dog bit. no holes and dog and toad are fine. We rehommed this big guy near the creek where there is lots of weeds and a tree. All will be fine.

Anyone have a clue what this guy is? I would say he is about a lb and a half. Very big guy!

Wow J-angel. Toads can be poisonous for sure... Flushing the mouth was the right thing to do. Did you call the vet, or is your pooch OK?

Maybe it's one of those Australian toads. You lick their backs, and trip like acid. Hope your dog is ok.

She is fine. My man was right there and they are all well trained to drop something and do right away so he told her to and she dropped it. fast. And no holes in the toad. Like he said, she is not lying there with her feet up or anything! No we rinsed her mouth like within 60 seconds. had the jugs right there it so happened! For plants! LOL! And the foaming stopped right away. We did it once and I think she thought we where going to drown her! The second time, she just let us, and it seemed to help. She is fine now.

How would I get those toads from Australia in rural Canada Pappy??? LOL!

People get in. I'm sure it wouldn't be too much trouble to smuggle in a few toads. But, I say, "Let's make sure that the toads, that have been in the country for 5+ years, pay a fine, be of good moral character, etc., etc.,....to be allowed citizenship.

It's not likely that it is one of those really poisonous austrailian cane toads...It is may well be Bufo americanus which like most toads exudes poison from the skin...some toads are hallucinigenic as you may have heard....here is a post on the fellow I think it is

WOOO!!!!! Thanks Scott! Blew me away! I guess we did the right thing. She is totally fine. Sleeping at my feet. And she is expecting too.

Thanks for posting that info. I truely appreciate it. I will watch her closely, not that I can get much closer, she is on my foot!

Yo, you might be thinkin' of the Colorado River Toad. There venom contains 5-meo-n,nDMT, which is basically once of the most psychedelic drugs on the planet. The toads however can be purchased online, without the slightest punishment of law in these good ol' United States on many ethnobotanical shops. Great places those shops are!

But what about the toads? With all the weather changes I know many amphibians are in danger. I know one year here, and I heard in the news, there seemed to be very few around. Something they could not figure out affected them. They are god's creatures too and have a place in the circle of life.
