Exclamation Protect your Pet from Pesticides

Protect Your Pet from Pesticides
Using fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides to keep your yard green? If so, handle them with care, because many can be toxic to your dog. Applying the herbicide 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid, in particular, four or more times per season has been shown to double a dog's risk of developing lymphoma. To reduce your pet's exposure to these chemicals:

•Keep all lawn chemicals safely out of reach.

•Take any food bowls and water dishes inside when applying outdoor chemicals.

•Avoid overdosing your lawn with products, which can leave behind residue and increase the odds of your pet coming in contact with toxins.

•Wait until all treatments have dried before allowing your pet back on the lawn

OR USE ORGANICS AND ONLY WORRY ABOUT THEM TRACKING THINGS IN. LOL!

We kid around here at GP about all sorts of things, it makes this community special. but this is important and timely.

I just had my dog into the vet last week for a normal check-up. I said to the vet wow you're busy today and he said to me "it's this way every year". Every spring people pull out the poisons and animals do what animials do. He told me more pets die from acidental poisioning this time of year than any other time. So be careful, better yet don't use poisons, if you are reading this use your internet to find alternatives. As I left the vet with my dog I passed by a room where two little girls were crying and saying goodbye to their dog, so sad and so preventable.

Thanks J-angel for bring this important subject up.

Most welcome tal. I have so many animals and live in the country near a stream so we have never used chemicals. But still my dog had cancer over the last couple of months. You never know. She is fine now but it was voracius. If not for belly rubs we never would of found it. It was a milimeter one day and 4 days later when she had the surgery it was the size of an orange section. So fast!

Folks, also watch for anti-freeze and never ever leave it around in an unmarked container or on the ground. It tastes sweet to animals and is fatal.

OH also there are products you use for your home that contain anti-freeze. I think Febreeze is one. I will add to this.
