Ok, for those of you who havent messaged me asking...

Yes, We are expecting a baby!! This came as quite a shock to us. We had both decided that we were happy with the children we have from previous relationships. Daddy is "fixed" and I took BC pills religiously. At first I felt crushed, or doomed, and yes terrified. But now I am starting to see this happening of ours in a different light. I believe everything happens for a reason, and some things are just meant to be. My son who is now 7 turning 8 in August is exstatic. This is also amusing to me because he absolutely loves the attention he gets being the only child. And has commented before that he prefers that it just be him, and his step brother.

I recall as a child all the things I used to hear my mom and her friends specualte on. Like if you are carrying your child high, it's most likely a girl...
Things of that nature. So I was thinking it would be interesting to see what others grew up hearing from their families if you are willing to share....

Take a gold chain that you have worn. Use some kind of pendant or ring on the chain. Either hang it over your hand or get some one else to hang it over you belly. If it swings in a straight line, back and forth, it is a boy, if it goes in a circle, it is a girl. Over the hand, it will tell you how many children you have total. I think it even shows abortions or miscarriages, as well as adopted children.

I have done this to people many times. At one shower I did it to several women. One of them it said 4 children, 3 girls and a boy. This was the person the shower was for and their first baby. And this was over 20 years ago. She had 3 girls and a boy.


Another person it did not move at all. I said I didn't understand why, and then this woman said she had not been able to have children and they had never adopted.

For me it said 3 children, 2 girls and a boy. I have a boy and a girl and had a miscarriage before my children where born. I had no children at the time, and did not know if I would have them as we had been trying with no luck then.

You just take the chain, hold it in your fingers, with your index and thumb, and let it swing over your hand or belly. That is it. Circle is a girl, straight line is a boy! Try it!

It works better for people with "abilities" if ya ken my drift.

If you have heartburn the baby will have a full head of hair. I don't know about this, I had heartburn bad and both mine where bald like bowling balls. BUT my son had fine hair all over, just like a little monkey! LOL!

Be carefool with wives tales.Years back my wife and I were cleaning apartments for rent money and Sarah got some bleach vapors and got Phneumonia.TWo differant friends recommended A mustard pack rub on the chest and back to clear congestion.These two people were confident and respected by us.We asked each what to do and where to get the reccommended powdered mustard.
So sarahs almost bedridden and I get supplies come home with this cheap remedy,Shes wheezing and just plain ill with chemical pneumonia and here I go with the mustard paste.Withen moments the paste heats up and she starts with this GET IT OFF OF MEE and we go to the shower and start to wash her off.Well the water started to get warm and shes really screaming now. Were both working as hard as we cant to turn the water to cool and get this mustard past off her. This ended with a tripp to the E.R.with the last of our cash and, can you just imagine the agony?
So,Wives tales are cool and sometimes funny but the medical home remedy type of wives tales should be researched and consult a real Dr. if you need it.
This seemed innocent but turned out bad.I called my friend and asked W.T.F. did you reccomend?

Its not gonna be easy, but yes I m very happy. I have alot of old habits I really need to kick. Especially if we are going to be the family I envision. But we will be fine. Just takes patience. And maybe alot of beer for daddy!
