Default 14 hours of light in the last 2 weeks?!?

ok i was looking at harvest footage from youtube and came across this video. they talk about upping the light to 14/10 in the last few weeks. basically during the end of flushing. they say that it gives them better yields. what do you think about this one? i'm not experienced enough to say or do so myself as i dont want to end up with some crazy looking growth forming close to harvest. all input is well appreciated

well you can't really return a plant at that stage into vegging again - so in the worst case you can lose a bit yield here as the last two weeks make up a good 25-35% of the total volume. likely the plant will stay in flower and it actually could increase the yield a bit as more light and therefore energy is provided to the plant.

i can't really try it as i have two strains in my flower room right now, so its all your still

i'd love to try it out but i have nothing to compare it to. if i had more than one plant i would leave one in the room for an extra 2 hours or figure out a way to do it. But as it being my first go at all of this im gonna stick to the tride and true methods. ill branch out from there as i get more experience. i just wanted to know if anyone has ever tried this before or maybe if someone was willing to give it a go.

why risk it unless you just like the adventure....let some one else prove that it works before spending more money on electricity

I have grows goin in two seperate phototrons. They are isolated so it is a test I can perform with no imminent problems. Give me a yea on this if you want. There are about 11 weeks to go as I intend to veg for 4 weeks and bud for 8.

go for it wb! it may not be totally conclusive, but at least it would be some reliable anecdotal evidence

Honestly, there are so many factors that goes into how much a specific plant yieds that it would be a tough call to make on just one or 2 plants. Realistically, unless the difference is immediately obvious and dramatic, you would need to compare the results of harvests from several grows with the same strain on the 2 different light periods, nutes, etc. so that any benefit could be confirmed with evidence.

Agreed....but even with two plants it is better than nothing if anyone wants to look into it.....much better than most "tests" which have no comparison group at all.

i guess it would work better if say it was a clone from the same mother. that would at least narrow some of the variables down enough to tell. i think the phototron is a good test but i also believe it being in the same exact environment would be ideal as a control.

well, if we really want to take it to the the testing range we would have to work with several identical clones from the same mother plant.

wb, if you happen to have 2 flowering rooms that are identical fitted, are those big enough to grow several plants at once? if so it would fit it would cause less error.
