it is not a classical in terms of dealing with MM directly but it is part of the reason why we face prohibition to this day...


to your information, hemp and cannabis been outlawed in 1938 in the US, partly for economical reasons as the growing petrol chemical industry couldn't compete against hemp and partly for racial reasons - this motivation as been actually stated back then: "to keep Negroes and Hispanics from rapping Caucasian women" and reefer madness

The film was originally funded ($100,000) by a Christian organization to "educate" parents about the inherent evil of The Weed with Roots in Hell. It was bought by a commercial film distributor before the church got to use it. As a theatre attraction it was not very successful.

Indeed- the article mentioned the use of no-name actors to keep costs down, as the movie wasn't originally produced for commercial release. It was a flop, by the way. The original church title was "Are Your Children Safe?" (or so), which was changed for public release. The old title appears in the credits (mistakenly) at the end of the movie.
