MKULTRA: Psychedelic Mind Control and Its Legacy

While there are many facets with regards to this CIA project, I would like to talk about the practice of the CIA dosed unsuspecting civilians on LSD over the course of a decade.

In my youth, I encountered this project and was the subject for one night's study. (I think)
I'm wondering if there are any others out there?
Of course, feel free to talk about the entire topic. I'm just curious to hear another's story.

BTW, the quote above, seems as applicable to today's troubles as it was when Senator Edward Kennedy first spoke them.

13 Apr 1953 Central Intelligence Agency commences MKULTRA, at the instigation of Richard Helms.
28 Nov 1953 After an LSD ****tail, biological warfare specialist Frank Olson defenestrates from the 13th floor of a Manhattan hotel.
9 Apr 1959 Operation Third Chance, in which LSD is administered to foreign nationals without their knowledge or permission.c.
1960 Ted Kaczynski volunteers for psychological experiments of Dr. Henry Murray (former OSS official) at MIT.
1963 CIA Deputy Director Richard Helms, regarding the dosing of persons without their permission: "We have no answer to the moral issue."
21 Jul 1975 President Gerald Ford publicly apologizes for the death of Dr. Frank Olson, who died in 1953 after unwittingly getting dosed with LSD by the CIA.
Jul 1994 Olson's body exhumed, and examined by James Starrs. He concludes further foul play.
Sep 1995 In her book TRANCE: Formation of America, Cathy O'Brien claims to have been a victim of MKULTRA. But she also makes bizarre and likely false allegations -- such as accusing Gerald Ford and Dick Cheney of raping her as a child.
24 May 2004 Former deputy U.S. marshal and Marine Corps veteran Wayne Ritchie files a $12 million lawsuit against the Central Intelligence Agency, accusing them of drugging him during a Christmas party in 1957 as part of an MKULTRA experiment.
8 Apr 2005 U.S. District Judge Marilyn Hall Patel dismisses Wayne Ritchie's lawsuit due to lack of evidence.

i still think the way they ran minimal if any tests on the hallucinogenic cacti peyote, then made that another outlawed plant.

Richard, I hope you don't take this the wrong way, and maybe it is the little devil in me thinking this, but when I first read this post I said to myself "OH! That explains a lot! That is what happened to Richard!" LOL!

I find it rather strange and disconcerting that this is the second Medical Marijuana / Patient Advocate website where a member of the admin team has questioned my sanity.
I guess people who have been ill for a very long time are not acceptable on patient advocate websites because those running these websites simply do not care about patients, just marijuana.

About a year ago, I went to a poetry reading. This particular author had participated in an MKULTRA program, and had some writing on the topic. Though I did get to speak with him, I didn't inquire about MKULTRA - figured it would be a sensitive, personal subject. Intriguing stuff.

richard, ive experimented with hallucinogenics alot, from mushrooms to acid, to one great experience with peyote on a mission trip to mexico, and i contribute these experiences, both euphorically good and grotesquely bad, to my views on life, which i will be the first to admit is a bit skewed. but i digress, i do not wish for you to leave. your sanity is not in question my friend, for who are we, any of us, to question anothers thought process? and while some of what you say i may not agree with, you strike me as sane. i have seen the blatherings of many a mad mad, and you strike me as nothing like them. please reconsider leaving.

OF COURSE NOT! I find you a very very intelligent person, that has a propensity for looking into things in depth. I too have done helucogenics in my youth, and do not think it damages your brain, unless you have taken too much over a long time. What it does do is make you aware of different levels and different acpects of things, that might not occur to you otherwise.

Please do not read into what I write. If at all I thought you had been harmed, I would never poke fun at it. I am only sharing thoughts, not harm with you. I admire your ability to unravel things, and peel away layers. This is admirable and shows very good research ability, again, possibly due to exploring your mind at a young age. The eternal question "Why?" is in your thoughts.

And every time you read something you don't like, you leave. Just like my 16 yr old. Get a grip.
