I am positively beside myself, and need to vent...so be warned! In the backwards midsouth city where I live, Memphis, we had a new bright and shiny occurance that apparently merited NO JUSTICE! In our "outter suberbia" lives a appenently well-to-do and well-respected asshole, who should be facing 1st degree MURDER... and is not. Get this:
Walmart, 5 days ago: attempting to park with his two CHILDREN is a single father, who by the way, just LOST HIS WIFE TO CANCER 3 months ago. As he exits his vehicle with his two boys, here comes an irate woman screaming at him that he "took her parking spot" and was "rude". According to multiple WITNESSES, then following occured: The man told the woman "he did not see her", and was not trying to "take her space", appologized, then attempted to walk off towards the store. Unappeased by the appology, the woman them blocked the man from moving forward and continued to scream at him about her percieved inconsideration of her, and escaladed into using profanity and degrading his character due to his marijuana t-shirt. After many attempts to "talk the woman down", the man pushed past the woman to begin walking towards the store. Well... her husband was apparently walking out of Walmart and saw him push past his wife. He ran toward the area of occurance, and confronted the man about pushing his wife. The man then explained that his wife was cussing at him, yelling, and behaving in an immature and inhume manner... and he just wanted away from her and the situation. Apparently, being unimaginably angry at the man accusing his wife of any wrong-doing, the guy runs to his car, pulls out a gun, and shoots the man DEAD in front of his children (who just lost thier mother!). He is quoted by witnesses saying "Well, I guess he won't push you again huh". The police arrive, and DESPITE witnesses testimony, charge the man with 2nd degree murder (not 1st degree, which would show premeditation). His bond is set @ $500,000, which he PAYS outright and is released. WTF! If he THOUGHT about going to his car, getting his gun, and SHOOTING the man.... that IS PREMEDITATED! Not only that, but due to the asshole's "position" with the church and community... NO ONE is saying shit about it! As a matter of fact, despite losing his wife a few months earlier, his children being PRESENT and witnessing their father MURDERED in front of them... there have been statements in the media, made by the asshole's church members, eluding to the "fact" that he was wearing a t-shirt supporting the use of marijuana, and that his wife (WHO IS NOW DEAD OF CANCER) was arrested for possession! WHAT?!?! No drugs were found on him. He did NOTHING WRONG. These two boys now have no Mom and no Dad, not to mention the trauma of BOTH deaths! Is there NO JUSTICE?
Sigh.... I am angry, and can do nothing to avenge this wrong-doing. This asshole was filmed at his church on Sunday smiling and laughing with his wife, with all his church friends and pastor behind him. One lady out there was quoted saying "you know, arguments just get out of hand sometimes. I am sure if the other man was not high (which has NEVER been documented or STATED that he even WAS) this could have gone another way from the beginning" WHAT?!?
Thank you for letting me vent. I feel such a deep remorse for those two boys. It's heart wrenching!

Peace | Not always. But I'm more appalled at the "Church Lady's" statement than the story of the murder. Crazy people do crazy things, and so I'm somewhat desensitized since you hear these types of stories all the time. But when someone tries to blame the victim and that someone is supposed to be a God fearing Christian, there must be a special place in hell for this type of hypocrite!
I know this type rather well, don't ask please.... way toooo long a story. But, you know the church is praying for their murdering brother in the Lord that God protects him from the worlds persecution.
Oh man....!!! I just barfed all over myself. Yuck!

But the thing of it is that you pretty much put a target on your own family by doing that. And they know someone who know's someone that will know YOU! I know my friend was threatened by a pastor when she ended her marriage to her abusive husband and they even said they would send some one to shoot her son. because she would not "Cleave" to her husband...that hit her and verbally abused her every damn day.
My church is a forest and the birds and animals are my fellow worshipers.

Rep Power: 99 | | PLEASE DONT JUDGE A WHOLE GROUP OF PEOPLE,OR STEREO TYPE QUICKLY THE CHRISTIAN FAITH, OR GOD, BECAUSE OF CROOKED PASTOR'S,SCANDAL'S THAT PEOPLE DO IN THE CHURCH'S NAME, OR IN GOD'S NAME
Because if the Shooter was REALLY a saved , Church Going Christian, THIS WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPINED
It's very sad what happined, and very ignorant comments from the lady at the church, and if the cvhurch is supporting him at all, i would bet it's a MONEY CHURCH , not a church interested in your personal relationship with JESUS.
It makes me sick tho, Victim's never get justice ,

have to agree with HookerRoad! I am equally sickened by both the tragic death of an innocent man! and the fact that the church members make it sound like the shooter did a favor too society by eliminating another "pot head" or "doper" WTF!! guess if you are a proper member of the community and your church and of course have the $$$$ you can break any of the Ten Commandments!!

My heart goes out to those children....
Does it really matter that American's aren't rioting like the rest of the world? We still senselessly slaughter more innocence than any other society on the planet.

Rep Power: 42 | | You know what.... it IS odd that NO ONE has said anything regarding Walmart. They DO have the tapes, which I might add not only clearly show the event, but clearly show all the many people who DID NOTHING... including Walmart security. I am going to email our local news networks. Maybe, just maybe, for ratings purposes, they will want to use Walmart's name in attachment with negligence or the such... and someone will have to think about it. Sigh... but I doubt it. This has so turned my mood today. For some reason I can't shake it. I already emailed them and bitched about the exact things I wrote in this post.

To play devil's advocate, I can see why they chose to relieve themselves of the burden of proving premeditation. It wouldn't be easy in this case, from the sound of it. And, since the guy has bucks, it probably would get reduced, anyway.
On the other hand, it's too bad the victim wasn't strapped. In an armed society, folks are polite. Check out Arizona or Texas sometime. Everyone is packing and everyone says "excuse me" when they should. I like that.
I'm polite without the threat of being killed for being rude, though. So, I'm partial to politeness, whatever it takes to make it happen.

Unless you have a bigger, better gun, you don't get into shootouts with crazy murderous types.
Have you ever seen anyone be shot? I guarantee you it would change your mind about being a hero right quick. There's nothing like brains on your sneakers to make it real. Until you've been there, you have no idea what you would do. I know what people do when other people are murdered in cold blood right in front of them - they freak out and run like hell or they get stuck like deer in headlights, completely unable to move or react in any way. Women usually scream and don't stop for hours.
People getting blown away right in front of you isn't the same crap that happens on TV. It's nothing like that, at all. It's freaking hideous. If they showed real violence on TV, people wouldn't think it's very cool. It's far from cool.
And no one should think someone is a coward cuz he didn't get himself murdered next. That's not right, is it?

I don't know about your neck of the woods, but here in Southern Oregon walking around with a firearm isn't terribly alarming. It only takes an instant to kill someone with a firearm. I suspect no one, including the victim actually had the time to react and play hero, even if there was one in the crowd.
