"But First" Syndrome

I have recently been diagnosed with the "But First syndrome". You know, it's when I decide to do the laundry, I start down the hall and notice the newspaper on the table. OK, I'm going to do the laundry..... BUT FIRST I'm going to read the newspaper . Then, I notice the mail on the table. OK, I'll just put the newspaper in the recycle stack.....
BUT FIRST I'll look through that pile of mail and see if there are any bills to be paid. Yes, now where's the checkbook? Oop's..... there's the empty glass from yesterday on the coffee table. I'm going to look for that checkbook.....
BUT FIRST I need to put the glass in the sink. I head for the kitchen, look out the window, notice my poor flowers need a drink of water. I put the glass in the sink, and darn it, there's the remote for the TV on the kitchen counter. What's it doing here? I'll just put it away.....
BUT FIRST I need to water those plants.. Head for the door and..... Aaaagh! Stepped on the cat. Cat needs to be fed. Okay, I'll put that remote away and water the plants.....
BUT FIRST I need to feed the cat..... End of day; Laundry is not done, newspapers are still on the floor, glass is still in the sink, bills are unpaid, checkbook is still lost, and the cat ate the remote control..... And, when I try to figure out how come nothing got done all day, I'm baffled because.....

I call that the gray zone....Kinda like "you know your a stoner when...." but with gray hair!!! (Mine is under hair dye though!)

You know, I'm 26, but I must have the same thing, because I do the same stuff! I think I get better when I blaze, though.

An unfortunate part of my illness is referred to as "Brain Fog". The brain tends to just go idle and it gets hard to think in the hours after a long day..so to me it's just another day, stoned or straight as I'm always doing stupid shit...

Welcome to my world ISO, I call it "Stream Of Conscious" living. Doing the things your brain tells you to do automatically. Where you go through the day on auto pilot . Good test for this is right now ask yourself, "What was I doing 10 minutes ago? If you can answer that your processing and storing, if you can't answer that you are your just processing. Know what I mean? What I hate is when I go into a different room then have to ask myself, "Now why did I come in here?" Sometimes I remember and sometimes I don't, but it always comes to me in time. Just like the movie CLICK, Eyes are open, ur breathing but nobody is home. This happens alot in my house. Alwasy asking yourself what was I doing and why am I in the kitchen when i was supposed to be doing landry...I guess I'm just a POTHEAD...
