Perhaps instead of (or in conjunction with) donations by members to Norml or another such organization, we could use some of that money to do some snail mailings telling about the failed war on drugs, the relentless imprisonment of US citizens, how the "justice" system is unjust toward MJ, and how GP is trying to speak up for the rights of EVERY citizen, not just stoners. Mail them out in priority post mailers as first class mail (auto dealers do this all the time to trick you into opening the mailer). Most will be tossed, but you might get some results. Would be a great deal of work, and I dunno if you could hire a company to do the mailings for you (ad agency of some type?). Perhaps you could pay sponsers a fee to get them to include your flyer in every order they fill, be it from this site or not. The flyer in the order may even be a better use of funds as you KNOW you will be reaching a sympathetic audience....

Later,
4kaan4

When i first joined this organization, i merely thought it was like the othere websites--just a cultivation website. After being here a few months, i've enjoyed coming here to read, post, (sorry if i gave a bad stoner post), empathize, and sympathize with the people who suffer more than me.
In Hawaii, i am able to speak openly about Medical Marijuana and recreational marijuana use at home, with friends, with co-workers (including the boss), and even patrons. Nobody knows i have my med card and they all think i do it recreationally (kinda true). Even though they know i use it, they know i use it appropriately so there is no reason for them to worry (heck, i'm about to help the State of Hawaii library system decide on a new database to use).
At my work, i come across many of people who may benifit from Medical Marijuana or a joke referring to it. People ranging from cancer to fibromaialga (sp?), to hard core drug usera to squares, young, middle age, and old.
I spread information i feel people can benifit from, but i don't cross any boundries. I could go into detail comparing MJ to Prescription drugs or just crack a stoner joke. It's all meant to get people to be more relaxed with MJ which i feel i accomplish.
I've also been invite to join the Divisions team for the Great Aloha Run. I'm very tempted to write this web address on my shirt (assuming my foot will be physically fit to run over 8 miles) and say something like "i wouldn't be running w/o my Medical Marijuana. But i need to run that accross the mods here and my works publicist.
Sorry to draw this out. This is the best website i can come to without feeling overwhelmed by senior members rants and raves, but a feeling that if we were all in the same room everybody would smile and pass the kutchie.

I live in New England and its not cali, the PNW, Canada, or the islands when it comes to attitudes about MJ. It wasn't to long ago (durring my life) that the comercial bussinesses were closed on the Sabath and birth control was against the law. Our collective attitudes towards MJ are equally progressive

I am a semi respected member of my community and if people new I grew and smoked my own mj...they would not only be shocked, but I would also loose my job and standing in the community

I kind of reminds me of my gay friends...we would often discuss what it would mean if all the gay people were out of the closet...perhaps the world would have to see that so many wonderful people are gay that they would have to accept it. Now mostly flamboyant men or butch women (like the prototypical stoner) are identified as such. The vast majority that do not conform to the stereotype are not identified and so the prototype or negative image is re-inforced...not that I think there is anything wrong with being butch or fem or cultivating the stoner image.

I would love to come out about MJ...like at a meeting today..."I'm so glad you like my reseach proposal...perhaps we could smoke a bowl and disscuss it further"

but this site has made me realize I have a real responsibility to find ways to become more politically active about MJ....the world might be able to go on with out MJ and with out basic freedoms....but its not the world I want to help create.

NORML seems to be a great organization with lot's of ways to be involved and I am enjoying learning more and becoming more active...who knows, someday I might have a meeting with my congressperson about it....I have talked to her about other things so it may well become possible...perhaps it could be my second career in retirement

WOW! Such fine spirits we have here! And just think, we are all stoners and all can talk with more than just grunts.

Just this attitude will change the laws on mj. It has to. It is an inevitable tide of peace and understanding, with knowledge of the herb gaining respect that will do it. Just through attrition, the nay sayers have gotta die off eventaully! LOL!

No I am not making light of this, but this is the spirit of Green Passion, and I just had to say I am so glad I am part of all of this. I have had opening discussions with people, about the medical aspects of the herb. People I thought where closed minded to it, but no, I see cracks forming when they too have heard of the good usage of our medicine. It is changing.

plus I am stoned and boy, yes, scott, water curing is the best...

Peace

I guess i am guilty of coming here for the purpose of my grow
for the simple fact that everytime i asked a question or looked for
some info on google, i always seen this site, and more times then not
my question was answered. But after coming here and reading threads like
this, i know otherwise now, that this is not only a cultivation site.
.
I've done my part and will continue to do so in the war against prohibition.
I've attended the marijuana march for the past 5 years, i've called my senator, i've sent numerous amount of letters, and on jan 9th i will be attending the rally for legalization & redress of grievances on the capitol lawn in albany new york.( C.A.M.P ) i've had my sit downs where i have spoken to a group of people about the positive effects of the use of marijuana and why it should be legalized. So if i ask questions about my cultivation moreso then activism then forgive me, for i am just trying to get the best medicine i can get while cutting out the middle man.
.
This is a great thread tho, definite props to the administration and staff
and the activists of green passion . org. i am greatful to be amongst a family
of knowledgable persons who partake in just more then recreational usage.

Hey york,

Thanks for your efforts. Your questions on cultivation will most certainly be answered; whether actively promoting legalization, or not. No forgiveness warranted. Feel free to ask questions, or comment, on anything in here. There are quite a few forum subjects to catch just about anything one could want to discuss. Lots of nuggets, in there.

So, hang out.....burn one...........Enjoy!

Pappy

York, changing the opinion of the world and working for legalization can take unlimited
forms. We all start somewhere and my goodness, you have nothing at all to apoligize for. You have done much already. You are welcome here and the part you chose to take is up to you. You have already been part of it in the past. We are about many things to do with MJ here.

An old teacher of mine once told me there are 360 different ways to look at an elephant. I know, it sounds odd but it has a base in philosophy and I think it applies here. No matter how you look at this subject it is different than someone else's perspective is. If we each do our bit,the balance being our need for security and our need for freeing our weed, the point where that pivots, that sweet spot, we will all do our best. And then the tide, the opinion tide of the world will change. It has to.

Just like the ant moving the mountain, one grain of sand at a time.

Peace
