 Little Bug Question
I have some little white bugs in my soil (well, it's coco not soil, but yeah). They normally aren't visible, but when I water they float to the top. When the water goes down they squirm their way back into the coco. There aren't any problems with the plants (so I haven't done anything), and the only thing I have had is a minor gnat issue which I've mostly cleared up by killing the few I see every now and then. What are these and are they going to hatch into something I don't like?

Could be the gnat larva. Plant a garlic clove or 2 every grow(own pot(s)), and never see another commie-gnat. |

Yeah, that is what it looks like. Any favorite ways to kill the things before they grow wings? (Because I have found MANY)

more than likely it is the fungus gnat larvae.... The adults lay eggs in the soil that hatch into the larvae and then the larvae hatch into adults. to break the cycle and fug up the little basstards you need to use stiiicky whitefly traps....or...make your own by taking a peice of YELLOW poster board/etc and smearing some vaseline all over it. The yellow attracts the flying population and they will get stuck and DIE... To hit the fuggers in the soil...you need bacillus thurengeisi israeliis (bti). This comes via "mosquito dunks" at wally world (if they stock em in your area)...via "Gnatrol" at the hydro shop (expensive for what you get that is ACTIVE in the bottle)...or the best bet (IMO)...go to Google and type in "Microbe-Lift mosquito control" and the product you want will pop up. should be $15 or less and that amount of treatment will treat thousands of gallons of water. good luck in the battle ww |
