Hey is this normal for 2 days in soil?



The one in the fish food thing is all fucked up and yellow so i repotted it with new soil. i think it might have been the soil cause it was crap. But its all yellow and looks really crappy. Ill get better picture later i had to use a laptop to take a picture of this.

You are doing fine for 2 days.

You need to make sure you have good drainage.

Looks like you could have used some more perlite.
Maybe 40% to 60% soil.

The soil looks soaked. You will proabably not have to water again for several days.

i just watered it before i took it and ok thanks dude. And ill add more perlite as soon as i can afford some. Can i get it at wally mart? i wont have any money till i get my tax return.

When you get the perlite go ahead and mix up your soil and add it to 1 or 3 gal pots so you have it ready to go in a week or so when transplanting.If you go ahead when you transplant and put them in a 3gal pot to start out you only have to tranplant one more time.This way it lessen the times you have to transplant and tranplant shock. PEACE

Couldn't a person take some styrofoam cups and shred them into pieces, then kill any germs with a wipe down of alcohol, and then use that as a filler? Essentially I think that's almost what perlite is, no?

the 3 survivors look good for 2 days. what you may want to change is the soil mix - more perlite would help your babies quiet a bit as it lightens the soil.
that the one died could be connected with over-watering or improper drainage, that is common with makeshift pots. i avoid the problem by using peat pellet - so called jiffy tabs. they work great, the only problem you could get is that they dry out easier and need a bit more care, but a minute a day to water isn't too much work really. try it

I kept the one that looked like crap and its still living. I think its actually looking better. As the yellow is going away some what, so i think it was just the super crapy soil i had. Today im going to the hardware store to buy some y connectors for my lights. So ill def look out for the jiffy tabs and perlite while im there.
