Rep Power: 109 | | Two Outside harvest a Year
I'm not certain if this is an advanced technique or not, but here goes...
For the past three years, as well as this spring, my goal has been to have two outside harvests. A late spring harvest, as well as the regular time to reap in Oct. Except for four months of burning temperatures, we otherwise have very mild conditions. First frost is usually well after new years, and except for those 'Blue Northers' that blow in, temperatures a rather mild.
I set out to see if it were possible. I wanted to have rooted clones by Feb 1st, or I germinated seeds starting the second week of January. The second week of Feb, weather permitting, I would set my plants outside for their daily dose of sunshine, and electricity savings -- near the evening, I'll bring them inside for additional light hours. I use 20/4.
I'll continue to veg, maintaining outdoor/inside growing, when around March 15th, I simply leave them outside full time. Due to the short early spring days, the plants are thrown into natural flowering. "Generally," they'll all finish by the third week of May. Depending on the strain some are not ready, and do I have to finish the last week or so in the darkness of my grow room. I've never had to bring my plants into the darkroom for more than a week or ten days to finish out.
As my plants flower naturally outside with a 13.5/10.5 photo period, I use 13/11 lights on inside grows, getting an extra hour of growth from them.
With the two or three plants that have not finished, I just put them into the wheel borrow, and take them to the grow shed after 13 hours of sunlight. In the morning, it's back outside again. I'll follow this routine until maturity is reached. It's not that big a deal actually.
I don't usually grow pure sativa's in the spring, but mostly hybrids of the Bros. Grimm C99, which are quite early finishers. Generally most finish by the middle of May.
My summer garden however, has quite a mix this year.
During April, I'm getting my summer/fall season plants ready for outside growth. Some I plant in the ground, and I keep several in pots. I just love the diversity. Finish for these will be in mid to late Oct. I realize that not everyone will have the conditions to attempt this type of two season grow -- heck, my sister in St. Louis is still shoveling snow when I'm planting -- but if one lives around 30 degrees north like I do, it's well worth the effort. Hey, the beach and river water are much to cold; what else are ya gonna do...B

That's pretty amazing Brussels and appears you have down pat. The thought of two crops a season never crossed my mind. Of course thoughts are at a premium in my head. Good job.

hey Brussels. I have attempted something similar but of course in Canada I do not have your warm temps. I started my plants in Feb-Mar-April, and then vegged them under 24 hour light. I put the vegged girls into the dark for 4 days after vegging and before putting outside. What this should of done is get the plants to say "WTF better make flowers, winter is coming!" I then planted them outside the end of June, after hardening them off and after the summer solstice. What I got here was rain rain and more rain, with not enough sun. I think some of my girls hermied, and they where slowed down, rather, stopped by all the rain. We had so much rain in one month it equalled all the rain we got in most summers for the past 50 years. At least I did not have to water them! LOL! I have found the clones I planted in July are flowering better and looking better than the ones I planted in june. I will try this again but just with a couple plants next year and see if it does work. I was hoping to get two harvests, one in August and one in sept oct. I have harvesting 3 plants slowly, but these are not ones that i did this to so I don't know if it will work. I have read it does so I will live in hope!
Peace

I just did a quick search for "C99 seeds", and found quite a few sites selling them. You'll have to check if they send to where you live, and you can always check http://www.seedbankupdate.com/su.html to see if there are any reports on them. New seed banks are popping up all the time, and it's hard to keep up with them. A few of them are below, and there are many more out there...B Discount cannabis seeds - marijuana (weed) seeds salvia divinorum extract and leaf. mushrooms and pot seeds Cinderella C99 marijuana regular seeds - $165.00 : Cannabis, Culture Shopping and Marijuana Seed Site
