Lightbulb Tog

Trail Of Green is a term i dubbed for a technique my friend uses to increase yields. He was using 4 foot florescent bulbs, so to take advantage of the length of these bulbs, he would tie the plant down on its side, and let it grow straight horizontally in one direction. the chutes would come up like plants of their own on down the line. this way he could keep the florescent practically touching the tips of the chutes. if you take this concept and apply it to HID lighting, you could get massive colas all on down a line... trail of green. what do you think? does this exist already with another name?

It's called Light Stress Training, LST, or just training. Mogie, I think, started a thread about it a week ago or so. The only difference in this case than what I've seen already is that your buddy kept his plants going in a straight line. But then again, the point of LST is to maximise your light's footprint, so he did a good job of that. It would be neat to see a pic of that plant. Do you have one, Hobo?

im pretty sure he does have some on his cellphone, ill try to get em so you could see. but imagine, instead of the chutes going out in opposite directions, they all curve upward towards the light. Trail of green baby.

Yeah, they always do that. I've seen a circle around the edge of a pot.

Hey hobo, there was a guy I know from another site, he grew this one plant out sideways. Under a 600 watt hps light and he got over one lb of cured bud.

Every branch turned into a main cola, it was gorgous.

I just GOTTA try this!

Problem is that with 2 different chambers (veg/flower) moving it to the flower room might be a problem (I think ahead!).

Any suggestions if I get a plant grown out 4 ft. sideways (and UP too) on how to be able to relocate it? I wonder if adding a piece of thin ply (1/4") under that grow area so one person can carry the pot with the plant and the other carry the board.

Sounds like fun!

once its established in the sideways position, unfasten the strings or whatever is holding it down, and just support it as you carry it. it should be strong enough where its just like transporting anything else. then i would tie it down and up at the same time so it doesnt get weighed down. i suppose you could zig zag it if you didnt want to stretch too far out across.
