thc content of plants

I am dreaming of breeding my own strains one day (maybe in two years or so...) and doing some research now, got the " cannabis breeder´s bible " already, what I want to ask, how can I measure the content of thc of a plant, whole or parts of it... how is it done? some seedbanks for example mention the percantage of thc, but what does that mean? is it related to buds only, or the whole plant? and what equipment is needed to measure?

Hey V, I think it's called a refractor.It measures sugar of the plant.But for how they relate that to % I dont know what the math is.i have to look for that. PEACE

... i have a refractometer for my reef aquarium (measures salinity and ppm).... dont think its going to help though lol
