Default Soil Advice

I have been researching growing mediums over the course of the last few weeks and it is getting a bit confusing. I have never grown before and I was hoping some of the more experienced farmers on GP could hook me up with their "tried-and-true" formulas. I am growing in soil and I have absolutely no experience with gardening at all. Essentially what I am saying is,....explain this to me like I'm a 5th grader! Ha, ha, ha! Thanks again for your priceless insight.

Well, indoors I like to keep it simple.
Its easier to add later than it is to take out.

2 20l bags of HP Promix
1/2 cup of Dolmite lime
1/3 cup of worm castings
1/2 cup of PyroClay3

Use a large rubbermaid tub with lid, line it with 2 heavy duty
green garbage bags.
Add one bag of Promix, castings and clay.
Mix well...no mix more than that...a little more...good.
give a 'couple' of squirts of RO water or rainwater.
Mix a little more.
Add 2nd bag and lime.
Mix well...
Squeeze air from the garbage bags and seal in tub.
30 days later, remix and pot.

Your question has many followers of the feeling of confusing,
there are many PREMIXED formulas that will serve you also.
