Runoff PH testing

I haven't seen this in the FAQ's. You know how the runoff from a potted plant in soil is discolored/brown. How do you all deal with this when testing the Ph from the runoff. Thank you in advance.

I just use the old color comparison technique for now. I am wondering if I can run it through a coffee filter.

you can test you water/nute's befor putting into pot..then water untill the runoff is clear an ph test...you can also test the ppm in the solution to see how the plants are uptaking nutes...peace
