Hi folks. I have of course gone on with my explorations in Low Stress Training and have tried a few different things. Here are this lot of flowering girls and how I have used and abused them! LOL!
For these plants I topped most of them, following my good friend Green_nobody's influence to see how it worked for LST'ing, and how this would change the general process with the plant.
For instance:
In my first group I let the main cola continue unchecked and did all my bending to encourage side growth to extend up to the canopy and add other "main" colas to the plant at harvest.
This time, having topped the plants, I worked on getting all the side branches to grow out vertically and send up horizontal shoots to add to the "main" colas. Thus increasing bud sites. After all, that is what it is all about, aiy?
Again, I am using chains to lower the branches. I really find they balance well on the branches and you can adjust at will to do your bidding! LOL! whip!!!
Just kidding! Got carried away there! Sorry! wheeew!
This is Northern flame. I am trying to pull DOWN her branches so all the bud sites get light. ....and a bit of bud porn to show you what ya get for it!
I have 3 Ambrosia in flower that I have LST'd so here they are. Plus some repair shots. Yup, I break 'em too.
Remember when doing this, never panic if you break a branch. Pot heals amazingly. AND where it heals is now a super strong spot so it will never break there again. PLUS this accidental happening is supercropping, and you will see INCREASED growth in the area above the break. It truely is amazing. I use electrical tape, as it releases well, stretches, and is water resistant. But you can use whatever you have, other types of tape, wire, even a cut plastic straw with string around it will work. Just remember to always remove it after it has healed as it will cut off the growth to that area if not removed,as the plant grows, just like tieing string around a tree will.
In the fifth picture you can really tell how the LST'ing has almost made this plant look like a SCROG from the top. See the "T" side view, all the branches have been trained OUT rather than up. The next pic is just of her canopy. I constantly work at maintaining a uniform bud hieght just like you do in a scrog. This keeps the buds down, and even for uniform light contact. .....and more "Main" colas! See all the buds in the center are side branches, that would never get that type of light unless they where trained like that.
Oy! You should sell those pics to seed companies to promote their product. VERY nice.
I started jangel's method just today on two of four plants that had grown taller, quicker than the other. Here is a couple-o-pics showing that you can do it, too! I used a nylon cord attached to the edge of the growing bag (allowing extra length for as the plant grows), and tied leftover hooks and eyelets I had on hand.

Here are some of my veging girls that I have started training. This way, bent like this, I can fit "longer" plants into this area and they do not compete for light as they all get it right along their whole stems. Plus they send out branches along the stem that grow up to the same hieght as the top cola. Of course, again, more "Main" colas!

Why thank you so very much! I like 'em too!
Very glad you like this method. It is so very simple, anyone anywhere can do it. With any ability as well. Good for all.
hey guys, new member here! ill be tying my ladies down in the next couple of days, just one question with the topping/tipping, iv posted some pics of were im cutting and the effects, is this the same method your all using??

Hi there. Come on by to the Introduce yourself thread and let us say hi to you!
What you are doing is right for topping, but is not LSY'ing or supercropping. Not sure how you will tie her down or what your plans are. Let us know then we can help you better.

im shit at explaining things without photos so im headin out there now to spend some quality time wid the ladies lol. post some pics up 2nite.aswell as head to the introduce yourself thread. cheers

Topping or taking out the initial growth tip of your main stalk will slow the growth process. Sometimes it will take up to a week or more for growth to restart. Personally I dont use this method. Instead, to keep the growth going, Jangel has a method called LSTing. Which involves using items with weight draped over the main stalk, and other side branches bending them downward. Just enough to point the growth end pointing down. Causing the plant to curve back up to get the growth tip pointing back up at the light. Now if you happen to break a stalk, or side branch, don't panic. Jangel's black electrical tape bandage will fix the break pronto. The method of Super Cropping is done by carefully compressing the stalk or side branch just till you feel the plant give a little. This weakens the stalk/branch enough to bend it down without breaking it. This method will keep the plant and all of it's side branches growing at a uniform height. If you check out Her link to LSTing and SuperCropping, it will be explained further with pictures. My words simply don't do Her process justice. And it DOES WORK

there are a few ways to go about this.. one is to just snip the growing shoot above an internode another is to go into the actual growing tip amidst the confusion of forming leaves with a pair of scissors and try to snip the growing tip in there whisch is a bit harder, but both work well.
this year im learning about supercropping which is another way of basically achieving the same ends but without actually loosing the main shoot where the biggest bud always forms... in fact you end up with more 'main' stems if done correctly

Ileso, what you are explaining is topping for the first part and FIMMING for the second. I will find a link and come back and post it on fimming. It makes the plants produce more than 2 growing tips if done correctly, but it is an art. Not so easy to do.

.....Nim, you are much like me, not sure where we are at times! My friend, this IS the thread on LST'ing with hardware and wieghts!
LOL! Just funning ya buddy! I have weeks like that!
i was ment to post these up the other night but awell lol, tied a couple of them over. i noticed once i got home they are shocking pictures, might head out there again this arvo
as you can prob see, iv left it a bit late to start training em. its all learning
