Just think how nice they'll look with holiday decorations.
When I use the jewelry I try not to bruise or break the stem, just a nice arc to lower the growing tip. Super-cropping involves tissue damage that doesn't occur with LST. I presently have five AK48 at 7 wks flower. On 2 of them I used the LST weight training; another 2 were bruised and laid over, the last was bruised and left upright. The 2 LST plants have more and bigger buds, the lower branches came up to the canopy and really developed; the SC plants seemed to keep a very tight profile with the branches hugging the stem.
All are growing in a large hempy tub, so get everything the same. 1000HPS, just finished wk 6 of 12/12.

i saw a video on youtube, well more like 23 videos all about a minute long (with some exceptions) the guy had an ak48 i believe and he showed how he successively pinched it to bush it out. one of the later videos shows a nice grow area, very cool

i used a shoe lace with electric tape where it touches the stem and one of those file clips to the side of the pot. its been a few hours ill take pics tomorrow and hopefully they will be a bit taller. how long do you normally leave them to one side? or do you just wait till they look to be the same height?
I leave them for a few days, or until the side branches are the same hieght. It is up to you what you want to do.
thats what i figured that its all basically just eying it out. im surprised at how fast they adjust. the bottom branch has already become about the same height as the main in just 1 day.
Pretty kewl aiy? ALL the side branches eventaully catch up. I take the branches if there are any, on the underside and guide them gently towards the top side. Next time you look they will be bigger and the leaves, if they where in the shadows and a little lighter colour, they will be green and the leaves bigger. It works well!!!
This technique works great. I use it on the plant I am scrogging to get the lower branches to reach the outside of the screen. I also have a length of chain laying on top of my screen to help train the shoots with really thick stems to lay back toward the screen.
Just remember, whatever you are using, do not let the full wieght pull on the branch, if it is something heavy, it could break the branch. Lay it on the soil, or the lid if hydro, but just enough wieght to get it to do what you want and not enough to break the branch. Just that sweet spot is what you want.
I have three clones and am now forced to grow them in a space no taller than 3 feet. im going to use this method sumwhat and was wonderings how early should i start training them?
Hi whitetrash. Let them get some strength to the stem, then start, but do it gently and you can start pretty early. If you post a pic I can help you. Not seedlings, no, they would break. I would say 4 weeks and up. Depends on the plant.
Some people start when the plants are very small, but I like to wait until the top gets stretchy , then bend it down with a weight. After that you can do individual branches as they grow out. Also, as the top grows vertically you can move the weight out on the branch or top to keep the stem horizontal.
NOTE: you may need to stake the plant below the bend- this is to keep from pulling the whole plant over, you want it growing straight up to where you've bent it over.

heck of a response time!!! lol id love to post pics of my ladys but i dnt much trust todays tech. its still VERY ilegal here damn it..... they have been rooted for almost a month and are about 6 inches tall. the stems r still thin so thats why im asking..... oh and in my space would it be better to top my plants? i did the mother (which i will take pics of when she's done and harvested) and its super bushy!!!
Ive been reading this thread ,and wandered if it is too late to do this once a plant is into flowering? Then I used string anyways. What do you think? Since this Is the only female that lived, I need to get as many buds as possible. I hope this makes my plant as bushey as yours.
Fman, do it slowly and gently. DO NOT put a lot of wieght on that stem too fast, it will break. ....can you see the smoke? I am thinking.......It might be better with that long stem to use a clamp on one side to hold a thick cord or string to the side of the pot,(make sure it is fairly thick as it takes the wieght over a broader span that way, and not in one spot) and gradually add weight....like a key or something not too heavy that you can just add a bit at a time till you get her bending just a bit. Gradually increase it until you get the bend you wish. But do it slowly and carefully. You have to watch closely to make sure she can take the wieght. Rest it inside the pot, on the dirt.
The bushiness is a product of the light and my soil hon. Just give it time. You will get there babes.
Okay guys. Have some pics for you of what my girls look like LST'd and flowering, and how I have been opening up the inside of the plants to make more buds be able to get the light, and not be shadowed by the upper branches. This baby is doing very well. Here is the first shot August 26th, when I first opened her up more. Then what it looks like sept 1st, and how I added more chains to open it up even wider. I also supercropped the upper buds to bring them down. Then some bud shots just from this plant. The last picture is of the whole plant.
Here is one I bent the main stem to one side and all the branches I trained to go up to the light. On this plant, my goodness. there is one bud must be 20 inches long, coming out of the side of the pain and going up. LOTS of buds also growing up from the main stem, and almost as bid. This baby is going to be good! I never topped any of my lst'ed plants. This one as well I opened up to get more light into the middle. Plus some bud shots from it.
