After talking about stem-pinching I gave it a try. I have 5 female AK48 in flower. They vegged so fast I put them in 12/12 at 19 days. I Pinched 2 and left 3 to grow high, I arched them over w/ some weights today. The pinched plants slowed way down in vertical growth, and seem to be bushy both above and below the pinch. It looks interesting so far. No pics, ha ha.
Hey you! Ya have to take pics! At least to show us how both methods work when they are flowering. Please? You can't torment us this way!!! LOL! If you can that is babes. This is very interesting. Like a clinical trial on shortening plants! I love it. Have fun and thanks for sharing with us!
At first I didn't think much of the idea having gotten used to the strings. But now I'm convinced. It's a lot easier--I'm using paperclips and some big washers. Very convenient, and decorative too.
best regards

Thanks, cf. It is all about getting results without having to jump through hoops to do it. If it is an easier way, hey why not? I have other things to do too. Like us all.
Peace
EDIT: excellent info on Supercropping in this link, THANK YOU LEAP270 FOR YOUR PERMISSION TO ADD THIS:
That stem looks like Super Cropping, where you grab hold of the stem with both hands (thumbs and forefingers) and twist it until you hear/feel a snap, as the inner hurd breaks. When the plant heals itself, it comes back beefier and produces more, but it also takes a little longer to veg and flower.
I Like the weight idea. I'LL PUMP YOU UP . . . . .

Thanks Framster! I at one point knew that but since then,.....well, guess I forgot to super crop the grey matter! LOL!
Hi folks. I have a few new pictures to show you. I have been racking my brains how to do this in a stealth way on my outside plants. I need to make this look natural and avoid catching anyone's eye. So My man suggested using sticks. And it works! Take a look. I have not got this all figured out, but anyone having more ideas just post them! Here we go.
Quite often we have tall plants and the question is: How to get light to those lower branches and get them to fill out like the tall ones?
Well, here is my attempt. The plant only has a couple of weeks left till harvest. I will go back today and change the angel of the branches to bend her in a different direction. It is keeping the banches lower down, horizontal, to catch that light and fill out. I am bending it over to get those buds to fill in more. The whole plant has buds on every branch, so we will see how this works!

Thank you bigmomma! Nice to have another woman around! Please post more about your grow. I will go over to your thread and see if I can help you with your wiring. Us girls have to stick together!
i started looking into both super cropping (HST) and slow bending (LST) about a week ago. at first i figured they were the same thing which i guess is still somewhat true. one of my small plants had been bent from me knocking the thing over one day (stoned) which led to me looking into how far along people start training there plants. some said asap some said wait for a certain height. well my 2 incher had already been bent over low on the main stem, somewhere below the pod leaves. i figured if it could recover from that then maybe you can top them earlier than i had thought. im sure other people have done this but i topped the plant at its 3rd node about 2 weeks into growth as an experiment to see if it would die or not. i figure i prolly wont have enough space to grow more than 2 in the first place and some might be male so why not take a chance with one.
the growth is pretty slow and its not in the best soil mix out of the plants i have, but the 2 new tops are certainly growing upwards. i figure within a few days ill be able to see stem granted i didnt just jinx myself lol.
sentra, especailly with a baby it can stress the plant a lot taking the top off. It takes time to grow a new tip. With an older plant, it is faster as the plant has more "food factories" (leaves) so don't do it too soon. Many growers pinch back once the plant is 10 to 12 inches, depending on genus. With experiance with your type of plant, you will find what works for it. Some even need to be topped at 8 inches. When flowering quite often the plants will gain 2 to 3 times the hieght so always keep that in mind when topping.
Personally, I leave the main cola alone and LST it, to get all the side shoots the same hieght as the main cola. This way, ALL the tops become main colas. Do you see what I am getting at?
Here is what I did to my mums before putting them into flower.
Tie those girls down! More bud per branch if all the side shoots have a shot at the light as well as the top. All of this has reduced the overall hieght, for the moment!
Here's some outdoor shots. They are working very kewl as they grow along the ground. I went to my spot the other day and I couldn't see one of my plants! I forgot I LST'd it and couldn't find it for a minute! Freaked me out!
i used a shoe lace with electric tape where it touches the stem and one of those file clips to the side of the pot. its been a few hours ill take pics tomorrow and hopefully they will be a bit taller. how long do you normally leave them to one side? or do you just wait till they look to be the same height?
