I like dirt.I'm not particularly talented with it but its uncompicated and satisfying.I have chosen a base and gathered some natural ingredients and have been doing O.K. I am intrigued by Hydro but its just not for me.To many moving parts. The only records I have to keep are coded on some photos so I can look back and know when to cut.
I really like the simplicity of soil. No pumps, timers, resivours or special pots .When I have extra clones they can go right outside and get planted. I like that.
As far as taste goes,my weed doesn't taste anything like what I have bought and smoked as "Hydro". Herbal and earthy are the only way to describe what I grow but I have only grown about 5 strains .They are unique to themselves but you can tell they came from the same garden.
A few things I dont like about growing in soil
#1 If you do something wrong,It takes a few days to fix it.
#2 Bugs and fungus.

Bugs and fungus are the worst for me because I need to buy a pesticide-funguside.I dont like that stuff anywhere near my weed but what do ya do? I havent had to use a fungucide but I need one now.
It pretty much comes down to nature Vs. science for me.

I prefer hydro to soil. Specifically, I prefer to use soiless mixes. The easiest form of hydroponic growing imo. Either a peatmoss/perlite or coco mix is my favorite. Right now i am using peat with perlite and a bit of EWC (50/40/10). I used to grow in pure water hydro systems, and after switching to soiless I noticed I was able to maintain the same level of growth but with a lot less to worry about.

Thumbs up How Bout a Hempy Bucket?

I cant believe no-one's mentioned the HEMPY BUCKET! IMO, The Hempy Bucket is the answer to ANY NEWBS Q's! In Short, its growing with the eaze/forgivingness of soil, but getting the GREAT Yields and other benifits of Hydro!

With the Hempy Buckets its almost a NO-Brainer! Its a passive Hydro set-up IRB-Internal Resevoir Bubucket. Basically a 2 1/2 Gallon Mop Bucket with a Hole drilled out about 2" up from the bottom. Its filled with a mix of 3 parts Perlite to 1 part Vermiculite, or Straight Perlite (both can be purchased at your local stores/ very inexpensive) You get your Hydroponic Nutes and YOUR OFF! PH and PPM's dont seem to be an issue in this set-up, and you just hand water/feed about every other day. The roots hit the resevoir (Where there is NO NEED for Pumps/airstones) and the plant EXPLODES. You can pump em with full strength nutes from the get, and feed them this as often as they can handle it. Most strains FLOURISH with a feeding every other day. (I give em stright water inbetween every 2 feedings... Food-nothing-Food-nothing-Water-nothing) Flushing the plants are SUPER EASY and this method is SOOOO FORGIVING! Its easy to spot problems, and quick to recover! Even transplanting can be done with lil' to NO shock as they just take any attention you give em and RUN with it! I even switched a blueberry 2 weeks into flower grew in soil into a hempy bucket with NO ILL EFFECTS! I was so confident in the buckets that I wanted to finish my girl out in it and she LOVED it, and never stressed!

I accomplished things on my Virgin Grow that would have NEVER been possible for me in soil or the DWC (that I purchased and never filled up with water.)
Stealth was an issue for me also and Im sorry but trickeling water and running pumps could be a dead givaway. With the Hempy Bucket there are NO MOVING PARTS- No Pumps, No Airstones, No cords, No noise! WHO COULDNT LOVE THAT! I am a TRUE BELIEVER!

Heres a few shots from my VIRGIN GROW- ALL HEMPY BABY! This was accomplished by someone who had NEVER seen a MJ plant growing before, and had No-one she could ask for help from. Just the Net, and lots of reading! I accomplished my first time what my Dad has tried to accomplish for 20 years! SAVE YOURSELF 20YEARS, and lots of aggravation! Grab yourself a small trash can or mop bucket and GET TO GROWING!

Happy Hempy'in
JointGirl

Ps. These are NOT the best picts, just what I still had on my computer. It is However a true example on what this can do for a TRUE NEWB (Imagine the possibilites for someone who knew what they were doing )
