your a genius! hehehe
i figure that had i left them in their sprout ing box they be there till kingdom come, but (and ill post pics later today) the first one has reared its beautiful head above groung...
i im officially on the way to GP now... i wonder if he|she will be sativa or indica dominant... you know whit id really love? a sativa that grows like a indica... or an indica with a sativas high and finishing time... hehehe
anyway, this is bound to be some cool smoke, and if its a male... ill pollinate the whole grow with it

ok here is the first of many,im plannin that in 3 grows time im going to fill my chamber with these hybrids to see what i get. this one took a while to sprout for some reason, maybe the cold, or maybe its a sativerish strain cause if im correct in remembering, i usually have more trouble germing sativas than indicas, of course my memory is a bit shot normally.. so i wouldn trite that down...

yes .. i looked up the word too... and i like it.. well... gotta have a stable strain first before i baptise it. thanks for the input!
lots of hard work still before all that.
im already planning a preeding grow, i talked today to another breeder i met by chance here. he works indoors, ona bigger setup than mine but it will work the same.
what i have to do is germ the whole stock.. i ahave around 15 indica sat crosses of my ladies as well as around 20 pure MISS SAIGON (thats what i named the pure seedstock, their mum thats outside still is 'miss vietnam')
so what i do is germ all the crosses, let them veg for a bit the lop the top half and clone these. with the clones i veg them AS THEY ROOT. the reason for this is that i just want tester buds. from these i distinguish which plants taste better, grow better, finish faster etc etc, i choose my eventual future seed stock from the clones and cross them with the males of my choice.. either back into their parentage stock if i want them more sativa-ish or between themselves if im satisfied with the current F1 crosses... i repeat all this as many times as it takes to get a stable strain without too many variations in phenotype, and with the taste, high and finishing times of my choice...
it is a bit time and space consuming but there arent any shortcuts to real new strains... working with sativa landraces is trick because they are so difficult to work with, it takes certainly alot of passion.

ok, i begin with a 1.5 L bottle of drinking water. thi sparticular one im using isnt very good but its all i had...
the reason its net very good is the top is shallow, not deep and tapered like i prefer (so they grow well and its easy to lide out of after without having to destroy the vase thingy)
so i cut the bottle in half or whatever depending on how deep i want it... you can use the whole depth of the bottle if you want to grow in it, but im using them just for seedlings and clones so i dont need for them to be too deep. ( i saw a post on the net once of a guy that solely used plastic coke bottles [because they are bigger] to SOG clones in from start to finish with great results, but he didnt use my reservoir method ).
i turn the top upside down and fit it inside the bottom part. if it doesnt fit i adjust it (dont worry if you make a mistake its absolutely normal, just get another bottle and start over). this measurement i will use on the next bottle straight off. this measurement is constant, no matter how deep the pot will be because it ensures a nice snug fit, but it does vary between different types of bottles. repeat over and over till i have as many as i need.
i then adjust the 'pot' soil container to the height i need. and voilá. i then get a bit of toilet paper (its more absorbant and acts as a wick when the res is low, plus it doesnt impede the roots from growing straight through it, unlike 'harder' papers) and close the hole in the bottom, this bits important also so that the soil doesnt end up in the reservoir and maintains the reservoir clean like a filter... then fill her up and bobs your uncle..
i never water from the top, ever so that i dont compact the soil and it doesnt leach into the reservoir but rather fill the res to where i want (i never past the cap if the pot is short so it soesnt soak the soil) and the water is sucked up into the soil by capilary action and the goodies in the soil dont go out the bottom...
so there you go... thats how i do it...
dont bother stickying this post cause im going to post a new thread with this but with better pics and a decent bottle too...
so, is bob YOUR uncle?
hehehe
if you notice this particular bottle has a waist and is all wavy... its going to be dificult to slide anything out of it.. ill have to cut this one to re plant

i have 2 sprouters and one very tiny seedling (the one that hard a hard time sprouting) the other two were v quick compared..
anyway,my next grow will be this cross i working on... nam X an unknown indica strain. which is actually very smooth smoke and doesnt couchlock very much, although the other day i smoked a bit too much... thats indicas for you ...
so far i only have one set of leaves and those look sativa to me.. elongated and pointy...ill post some pics as soon as i have the cam up and running...
these 3 will grow alongside my next batch of afghani and church cloned from my current flowering plants. ill try not to get the post mixed up cause i really want to show all the process because it ends up becoming confusing one or two generations down the line... this current cross was a bit forced as i didnt have the indica i wanted at the time, but good things could come of it..
i hope one of the two afghan seedlings im growing seperatly is male so i can use the genetics i intended on miss vietnam outside as i originally intended...
when i do this sort of work im a bit untidy in my organisation i know, often acting on impulse rather than a pre-determined strategy (although its there somewhere), but thats how i do things.. the hard and difficult way... thats just life in ileso's world
