Default Flushing What If ???

Ok so lets say you want to flush prior to harvest but circumstances make things difficult to do a proper flush? I was stoned and thinking that the whole reason we flush is to remove the nutrients from the medium so that the plant burns off all it's available nutrients right? So what if instead of actually removing the nutrients from the medium we just make them unavailable to the plant?

Seems to me like it could be done easily by dramatically changing the ph. Seems like there are a number of things could be applied to swing the ph high or low and thus make the nutrients unavalible to the plant. Would that not accomplish the same thing as a flush? Seems like if i can get over 10 or under 4 nitrogen for one would be pretty unavalible. But i don't really know if i can even do that, Never aimed that high or low before. There are certainly alot of questions and variables but it does seem worth exploring to me.

But this is all hypothetical at the moment, I am not about to soak a plant in but i would like to hear some opinions on the matter. I am not the most technical of a person and my idea could be horribly flawed but i thought i would throw it out there anyway. If this sounds like a crazy insane idea don't be afraid to tell me.

a dramatic change in pH will lock off certain nutrients yes, but not all of them. It can also mess up your plants pretty bad and stress them out. remember that when you stress your plants out, that causes them to think they are going to die, and thus they will produce seeds and go hermy. these plants can be surprising sensitive to pH change, and the last thing you want is a pH or nutrient problem your last two weeks destroying your 3 month crop.

so personally....it sounds a little insane....and a little too much work when flushing is simply pouring plain water (pHed of course) on them for 2 weeks. (maybe with a little molasses or carbo loaded like Sweet)
