| So I am growing some peas and when looking up info about them I stumbled onto the site on the link. The rhizobium grows on the roots of the pea plant. My question is after the season is over with the peas can I innoculate the soil with the rhizobium from the roots of the peas? Would this work the same way as mychorrhiza, It would be nice to find a cheap alternative to buying it, or do you guys know of any plants whose roots grow nodules with mychorrhiza like peas? I know rhizobium is a bacteria and mychorrizha is a fungus... | I don't even know what Rhizobium is, so I'm going to stay tuned. Am I correct in thinking it's a beneficial bacteria?

| It really makes sense when you think about it. I've heard about crop rotation to keep the soil 'healthy', but was unaware of little things like this. Knowledge is power! Go Joe!! ![]() -D

| Rhizobium converts unusuable nitrogen from the atmosphere and makes it usable. I wasn't sure if it would just enrich the soil or form form nodules on the plants like that of peas. Yes Kieahtoka it a beneficial bacteria. | ||||||||

| Soy beans do this, too. Here in the cornfield, most crops rotate corn one year, soybeans the next. For a real nitrogen boost, alfalfa will be in a field for several years. Then the soil is very nitrogen rich.
