Default cloning for soil growers

Jiffy pellet cloning

my favorite method of cloning if i grow on soil, it is faster then water-cloning and takes only a little more.

What you need:
-A mother to take cuttings for clones
-jiffy pellets (50 go for 3-5 bucks usually)
-a grow dome
-a cloning agent
-tools and stuff
-mister/spray bottle
(-optional a heating mat to speed up things, really helpful to cut down the time it takes!)

What to do:
-get the mother plant out of your grow into an area where you can work
-prepare your tool, clean them
-soak the jiffy pellets, get them so soaked that they drip in order to have them once as soft as possible to get the job well done.
-prepare the cloning agent, if it is powder, my favorite, spread it on a bit of paper. if it is gel or liquid, fill a little into a jigger. never go directly to the agents container with a cutting!
-cut off a your future clone. best would be one node with 2-3 leaves attached and a little branch piece, but a lone leave with an inch of stem is enough to work with too. but a lone leave take some time to grow!!
-make a 45°+ angled cut on the cutting, so it can suck up water. Important or you cutting will probably die on you!
- dip/roll in the agent and scrape the cut free after that.
-make a little hole into the jiffy pellet and stick the cutting in. then squeeze the jiffy formly together so the cutting gt a solid hold.
-put the jiffy with the cutting in it in the dome.
-set the dome in a warm corner/on a heating mat in a not too light-flooded area, no direct sun light! no HPS/MH max is a lone small CFL in 6500K! use 18/6 cycle and NOT 24/0 or it will take for ever till those clones are rooted thru!
-mist from time to time, do not soak the pellets, keep em moist!

well the try this way, my ratio is in general better then 85 to 90%. there are a few keys to a good cloning:
1. not too much agent, they gel up and block the water out then
2. no direct sun light, MH or HPS, they kill a clone within minutes
3. not to much misting, only mold will love it, only mist if the clone goes limp
4. to much water, do not soak the medium, just keep it moist, and that is easy in a dome.
5. keep the clones warm, a little heating mat works wonder on the job, you will see the first roots coming thru the jiffy nets within a week normally, but don't let it run to hot. 85-90°F is more then enough, above that you do more harm then good again.

a tip is to use a thermometer with humidity function, those start cheap around 10 bucks, mine was $8 with s&h, so it doesn't need to be fancy at all
