| This is not a tutorial, merely an observation. I get to see alot of newcomers trying there skill at cloning, I remember the 1st time I attempted it too. I got real fancy, I read everything I could find, than decided on which technique fit my style, and went with it. I failed at it miserably too. I've tried repeatedly and of course my success rate went up. Today, I am getting 10 out of 10 being a success. Whats changed, why am I getting great results now? Well first of all, I shit-canned all of the fancy techniques and went with a Keep-It-Simple-Stupid technique. In my opinion, there is ONE factor that makes cloning super easy, but I'm not gonna tell ya, that's my secret. I'm just playing with ya, of course I am going to share it with you. First off, my technique is super simple. (I like simple) I take my cutting, I cut it at an angle dip it into my cloning powder, I use Schultz Take Root. I also cut all the leaves off, except for those at the very tip, however the leaves at the tip. I cut there tips off, doing this forces the clone to concentrate on making new roots. I, than place it right into my soil mix. The reasoning behind my success is simple, it is all in the age of the donor. It is much, much easier to get a clone taken from an 8 or 12 week old donor to take root, than from a donor who is only 3 or 4 weeks old. Hence the need to take a mother, or two, or 6 or whatever your needs demand. Peace ![]()

| trimming the foliage, not leaving too much surface for water to evaporate and keeps the reserves for growing new roots and not maintaining the old foliage, that with some good hormone and maybe a heating pad should work great on any strain ![]() what surprises me is that they root in your soil mix, despite it's high nutrient value of it, or is there something different video?

| I have always rooted directly in the soiless mix with success...no dome and just shultz also...I even had an outdoor plant get injured and so snipped off the injured branch put it in the ground and it grew roots...I got to believe the lack of success is as Vid suggests - keep it simple when it comes to clones....of course how will this apply to Hydro? | ||||||||

| that Schultz stuff is actually quite strong with 1% indole-3-butyric acid as hormone active ingredient - found this very informative page on rooting hormones http://www.rooting-hormones.com/advliqu.htm the strongest stuff here hold only .5% and i'm working right now with a .25% powder as i couldn't find anything stronger here.

| DieAbetic, I know Scott also uses the exact same method, so that makes 3 of us here. Do either of you have any experience in taking clones from say, a 3 to 5 week old plant? If so, did you find it harder? Right now I am taking clones from a plant, sevral months old, and it is simple as pie. Cut it, dip it, and stick it. It always takes root too. I dont use a heating pad or nothing, I did experiment with placing a clear cup over the cutting as a humidity dome, but I didnt notice any difference at all, so I stopped doing that too. K.I.S.S. I have half a mind (well I only have half a mind) to keep the plant as a mother. Peace
