I have a 1000w hps, and my bill goes up at least $200 per month. The reason is the
base rate for electricity in my town is for the first xxx kw you use. Above that usage
there are double , treble, and quadruple rates which kick in. How much over your base rate, which is set by the Public Utilities Commission, will determine how much you get raped by the utility. I inquired about smart meters, which charge less for power used in off hours, but they're 3 years from being installed in my area. When I use my de-humidifier it goes up $250/month.

I called my power co. and joined a plan that locks me into .15/kwh throught the year. I pay a little more than normal during the winter. But it saves my backside during the summer.

my 400W HPS eats about 40 bucks a month at my kWh rate... so not too bad but not cheap either...

I've got 3X600W HID, and electric furnace, etc.

Add in a air compressor, 3 circulation fans going 24/7, cloner pump 24/7 plus 2 Vortex fans for lamp exhaust that run when the lights are on.

Home/growroom bill runs about $800 every other month.
