Rep Power: 153 | | A Tour of Hobo's Grow Room OK folks ill take you through each aspect of my grow room, show you the nutrients i use, and explain what everything is for.
Security You can see first off there is a lock on the door entering the grow area. Its important to keep your area secure, so the wrong people don't go accidentally discovering it.
Here are the stairs leading up to the attic, it tends to get HOOOT up there in the summer, i may need to invest in some more heavy duty exaust or seal it off with an AC.
I also have the windows blacked out from the inside, and having it look like curtains over the windows from the outside, which you can see in the next shot couple shots. Ventilation For now i have this 6" carbon filter with a 250 cfm fan for active exhaust to attempt to exhaust some of the heat and filter the smell while doing so. (on the left)
I also have a 125 cfm fan for active intake of cooler co2 rich air from outside.
This is all an attempt to control temperature and humidity by cycling air through the grow and most importantly exhausting the hot air out.
There are also a couple oscillating fans in the air to keep the air moving and from stagnating. I just leave the door open to the veg room in the day hours of the flower room to keep it ventilated. My flowering room uses a hydroponics top feed setup using pond rocks as the media.
Nutrient solution is pumped out to a splitter where a micro irrigation line runs to each plant in the setup.
The excess water is drained out back into the reservoir to be reused.
My 20 gal reservoir with air stones.
The pump is run by a timer set to go on for 15 minutes at a time 4 times a day.
The hydroponics part of my veg room, is a large ebb and flow tray with the ability to maneuver, add, take away or rotate any plant i want at any time. It makes it easier considering the veg room where the plants get moved around the most as they grow, once they hit the flowering room, they stay put.
The tray fills up 4 times a day for 15 minutes at a time.
I also have a humidity dome to root clones, and a spot for a few soil plants . Lights
For lights in my flowering room, i have 1 400W Hortilux HPS and 1 400w MH super bulb.
In my vegroom, i have a 150w HPS and 4 dual florescant tube fixtures at 80 watts each, using daylight and warm white bulbs. Thats all my production plants need/ can handle in that small space with the heat
issues. Water Quality Control Here i have a tri-meter measuring temp, TDS in PPM and PH.... with the necessary calibration/storage liquids. Nutrients and misc
Green Lightnin' Hydroponic and soiless nutrients. (THE BEST STUFF OUT THERE!) Future Garden Nutes (i use these in my veg room)
Sprays and other Misc items. Always keep a fire extinguisher in or near your grow room in case of an emergency. And always clean it with bleach water or another disinfectant often.
Organic Nutes
Additives and other Misc Drying
My little makeshift dry box (not much drying in there right now, i did a lot of pre-harvest picking on an already small plant hehehe prob should be in a darker place, but i have no place else to put it because of smell issues)

Nice thread Hobo. real nice. Personally, my present growroom, has no windows, it was/is a large walkin closet, hence no glass.
I would have liked to see some shots of how you handled your windows.
Any chance you can post em for me? I think it may be helpful for others setting up a room too.
Peace

Rep Power: 153 | | Shots of windows
Ask and you shall recieve
Here are some shots of the windows from the outside and inside.
You'll notice the window is just cracked, with a nondescript curtain covering whats going on inside.
On the Inside, its taped off with black landscape plastic, and little hole cut in for the air vents. its like this on both the intake and exhaust of the room, on opposite sides of the attic.

Thanks for sharing your set up with us Hobo. An attic grow op creates unique challenges. Is temp and humidity your biggest worries?
I just place an order for green lightnin nutes for my flowering phase. You guys convinced me that's the way to grow. I love your pics.

np, yes the heat and humidity will be a problem in the dead of summer, i might have to seal it off with an AC Quote:

its a finished uninsulated attic with about 6 feet of height, and a small crawlspace like closet up there for the veg room. Quote:

Hey hobo I have a question for you: I have a MH 400 watt neutral Sunmaster Delux and was thinking of buying the conversion kit and the HPS bulb, which is 119$ here, for flowering them. Is it better to convert it for flowering or go whole hog and buy a new HPS with ballast in your opinion? May I ask you why you flower under both types of light or is your area so big you must have both to cover your plants? Money is tight right now so I would rather not buy a new whole system but hey, being cheap could cut both ways. False economy you know. I know I could flower under the MH but will get better buds with the HPS. Any advice will be appreciated.

the conversion bulbs dont get as much lumens per watt, and they are more expensive as im sure youve found out. imo it would pay to invest in a hps ballast and regular hps bulb.

I also have the option of flowering them outside. I want to keep some inside to finish faster though. I really am almost maxed out right now so I don't / can't but will if I have to kind of spot. they are all on 24 hr light and going to switch soon into 12/12. |

the main reason i have a MH, is because a friend donated a 400w mh ballast and hood. so i just ordered me a sick MH Bulb. but it couldnt hurt to add a little different blend of light to the same garden, the plants in between the HPS and MH get a nice balance of both.

LOL! | Yea i got the foliar boost, ive only used it foliar on my vegging plants, im hesitant to spray that right on my juicy buds. Ill def try to add some right to the reservoir. Yea i started at the max dilution ratio, im up around 1500ppm, these are all Ice strain, they have usually burned around 1300 for me in the past. so they are handling it pretty well so far.
i wish i had a kegerator!
