Approximately how many plants can you fit in a 4x2 space comfortably to maximize the space? Its alittle over 4 ft wide but tapers off. Heres a pic of the closet.

8 small plants, 3 or 4 big ones, ide say... if i were you i would get a scrog setup going on in that closet

i'm just trying to get through the first grow then i'll get tricky down the line..maybe 3-4th grow i'll try it. next grow is gonna be clones in dwc maybe

lol yeah i like their closet better than the one in my office so i'm switching rooms tomorrow. the office is bigger anyway...my office closet is 7X2 but i dont have the light for the whole thing and i dont like the floding style doors

Guess I should add i'll be using a 400 watt HID and a few cfl's for side lighting

Hey Knottyd How's it going. I got a closet set up and I grow in to.I have a 400 hps in there and I can grow three plants with no problem in DWC buckets.The closet is 2'deep by 8' long and 8' high.More than three plants and it's hard to service them in my closet.You will have to vent that light to get the heat out of the closet.Have you throught about how you will vent the close to bring in fresh air.You can pick up a door and fit it with dark room vents and that will solve the fresh air problem.You want to build this dark room vent it is easy to do.hit me up and I will sent you a drawing of how to build it.it will take you about 35 mins to do and they work great too.I put a ac vent in my closet and exhaust the hot air from the light out into the attic.First thing is to panit that closet flat white.Get a high quality panit for it will last that much longer and you can wash it down after each grow.Here a pix of my closet and door with the vents.You got a good start so now a little planing and you are off to thew races.Need any help just hit me up. Thanks toke much appreciated. I started to paint the closet last night but ran out of paint, I dont know why but my buddy bought me a little pint of paint which was pretty much used as primer to cover the blue till i cant get more paint today, anyway i'll look into running to home depot today to pick up come wood and a spare door (in case the rental company decides to visit) oh and some black paint. I was hoping to get at least 4-6 plants in there. Do you have fans attached to your vents? Thanks for the info

you can do a plant a sqfoot..s0 4x2 should house 8 decent sized plants...lstd would great...peace

Hey Knottyd No I dont have fans in the door vents just the exhaust of the light.The exhaust pulls the air into the closet from the vents and through the light and out into the attic. PEACE

There should be a ratio for height compared to width or circumference.

I believe it is called the golden rule.
I would have to go back and look it up.

For instance you are as tall as the distance from one finger tip to the other while you arms are stretched out to your sides laterally.
Or something like that.

hehehehehehe

I figure 2ft square per plant.
So 2x4 = 8. So 4 medium to large plants or 6-8 small plants.

hey toke, yeah i got your pm...i can picture now your set-up and thinking about venting through the ceiling also just dont like cutting into something thats not mine. I'm about to slap another coat of paint on so it can dry so I can move everything into the closet and worry about ventalation tomorrow. Just gonna get lights and fans in tonight. Thanks for the help, I'll holla if I need additional help

well because "plant" is too broad of a term, you could prob get 1 plant to bush out to the size of most of the closet area with a screen of green, or you could grow 8 plants straight up and trim off all the branches... it depends on how you are going to have the plant grow.

here are some pics of my setup, you see there are small plants when the sidebranches havent grown out... you can fit more of them in a surface area...

when they are bigger i only have 2 plants taking up a 2'x4' space of surface area. i tied down all the branches, so more light gets in the middle, and spreads the plant out creating a wider canopy for light to hit directly...
