The Knowledge Project-4- Contest-Plant and Seed ...closed
Welcome to the Green Passion Knowledge Project-4. This months catagory will be...
Plant and Seed Selection
We all have our preferances, Sativa vs.Indica, Medical vs.Recreational. Some will want to grow trees and others budcicles. This month lets show what we like to grow and discribe why its the plant you love. Bud shots will be allowed
Rules-Rules as always will be simple.Contest begains on August 1,2009. Write your entry including pictures and any visual means of making your point and post it here in this thread by midnight August 31,2009.
All entries will be read and a panel of judges will select the winner.
Prize-High grade seeds are raising the bar with a seed pack of Purple Cindy. This will be what our winner receives.
Mostly Sativa Indoor/Outdoor/GreenhousePurple Cindy is a very potent cross between Purple Oregon Thai and Cinderella 99. Purple Thai is a first generation land-race Chocolate Thai crossed once with a first generation land-race Highland Oaxaca Gold. Cinderella 99 or "C99" is a potent cross between Jack Herer and ShivaSkunk. Purple Cindy is a merging of these fine genetics. This unique cross has a wonderful fruity aroma reminiscent of a sweet pineapple/mango garden. The high is complex beginning with a strong psychedelic buzz that jettisons you to the stratosphere followed by a euphoric state of heightened creativity and finally an equally long state of peace & contentment. Great yielder for a sativa! Can develop purple hues in late flowering. Great strain for creative endeavours! A HIGHGRADE SEEDS exclusive. Height: 4 ft Flowering Time: 10 weeks Yield: 2.5 to 3.5 oz per plant

a bit of history if i may:
Cinderella 99's Lineage
A seed from a Jack Herer bud from Sensi Smile was grown out and pollinated by an "Unidentified mystery plant". This resulted in a special plant called Princess. Princess was crossed with ShivaSkunk (from Sensi Seedbank), this resulted in P. 50 (or Princess 50). It was then backcrossed with the Princess to create P. 75. P. 75 was backcrossed again with Princess to create P. 88 (aka Cinderella 88) which again was backrossed with Princess to create P. 94, which is Cinderella 99.
have fun

I'm just learning, but saw there is no competition and thought maybe I may have a chance at winning this great prize! I have a very small space to work with so that is why I picked a micro grow. Living in apts kind of limits your space a little. I am motivated by the threads I have read by Dr.BudGreenJeans. All I can say is Wow! I wouldn't have a chance at winning if he swooped down and posted for this contest! LOL Anyway, I don't have any Bud Pics yet and I wasn't sure if this was a requirement or not. I've been told they will bud for me soon enough and to be patient. But I do have a neat starter mix with a triploid and a Nepali Grizzly! All from bagseed in the midwest. Medium Used:Roots Organics Potting Soil mixed 1/2 with perlite for drainage Nutes:FF Bloom Location:Indoors. Lighting:(3) 150W Warm White CFL's for flowering (2) OTT bulbs for veg. Ventilation/Exhuast:(1)65 cfm inline fan with DIY Carbon filter inside and (1) PC fan for intake. Temp's/Humidity:Low 78F High 82F Age:Triploid broke through soil on July 13th. (but she hasn't grown for a week now Arg!) Nepali Grizzly broke soil July 29th. Cabinet:H=26" W=14.5" L=15" Reflective material:Panda Paper I'm using 20oz. cups to keep them short. No signs of sex yet but will be trying to get a clone of the triploid named "Queenie" I hope I don't muck it up! I am looking to get a larger cab like an old dresser to try to keep it stealthy. As of now, my setup is nowhere near stealthy anymore! lol I wish I had more room, but I figure if I can pull these off with what little I have now, it can only get better! I have never bought seeds before, but if I win some, I would be very careful with them and give them all the love I could!! So, here are some pics of what's going on as of late in my closet...a couple more pics in second post if thats ok?

Thanks for the entry Sabasi. We all geek out on our plants and we all have a preferance for what we grow, Tell Green Passion what you like or need. Med users ,I'm sure have special needs. Maybe your choice will help another with a plant selection.
Thanks for the comments and entries.I wish you all luck and good fortune ,keep em coming

I drink a lot of mountain dew so I guess I prefer the head high versus couch lock. I don't know the strains of everything I have growing as it is bag seed which I'm finding is alot more challenging. don't have a medical need for it except for depression/anxiety and cramps lol
My Grizzly is the only one to really be identified just because of the odd looking first leaves. Anyway, I have a lot of compassion for those who need it medically and feel very fortunate to use it mostly recreationaly. Especialy when fishing I would prefer to grow these contest seeds I guess so far. Ohhh I'm sooo excited about this contest!! What fun this is!! Subliminal message inserted here: You suddenly feel the urge to not compete and go read something else for awhile.....

Is that a plastic composter type thingy? Never thought of that.
Good one.
It's the closest thing I could find at Home Depot So I grabbed it. It's actually a bin to put a 30gal trash bag in. $32 It's a trash-hideaway and I thought it looked stealthy. And yes, I was high when I found it! The only problem so far has been reaching in to get the plants out as the lights are right there. I'm glad they are CFL's or I would have 1st degree burns all over my forearms! Otherwise, the plants seem happy enough...so far!

What I like to grow and why?
*note
With slight variations, you can play along at home.
I have found that when growing for others med needs,
you pretty well have to grow everything eventually,
due to so many specific ailments and effects.
This, for me, means mostly Sativa types.
Personally, I enjoy the Indica types.
Now I'm sure, all of you like me, keep that one jar
tucked waaay back in the root cellar for special
occasions like the end of the world and such...
Here's what makes up MY jars... jack005-1
We took some of the first Jack avaliable...
This is northern Alberta in mid November!
Had to make a poly lean-to for it, run an
extension cord and blast a car heater under there. jack001-2
jack002-3
and started crossing it with some nasty Haze males...
jack004-4
jack003-5
to inject a little stretch back into it.
This was the starting seed stock.
In this form we found a stable couchlock stone of the highest order that has
no plateau and a cumulative effect that will lay out the most
seasoned smoker.
jack006-6
jack007-7
jack008-8
Then, taking that stock, its been cross after cross, but within
its own lineage only.
jack009-9
X Northern Lights#5
X Skunk#1
X Haze
X Afghani
Every 3-4 years we go back to the original stock and following a new branch.
Not really breeding for anything other than we like these combo's.
All the forms I've produced so far have kept true to the following traits
through ALL the crosses:
Long lasting couchlock stone 9-10/10.
Ready in 48-65 days(even the Haze var's).
Wide Ph tolerance in soil 6.2-7.0.
Can handle ppm up to 1550 but will not suffer at 900-1000.
Will grow to its environment, just as happy in a 1l pop bottle as it is outside.
High heat tolerance.
Big sugar production, everywhere, underside of fan leaves, top stems...
Easy to trim as the leaves snap off exactly like a stalk of celery.
Takes a long time to dry due to the resin thickness. jack010-10
Its about as close to a 'Dream mix' as I've been able to find on this planet.
All the parts are still available out there to make your own too.
Time and space young Skywalker, is all you need.
Come over to the Indica side.
It shouldn't be too hard to figure out whose genetics we started
with but it was...
*just then, a shot rings out*

After the stock seeds, plants were always selected that showed
Indica dom. Still, a fair chunk of its gene pool is Sativa, which,
I believe, is a factor in creating Indica stones that last all day
like a good Sativa.

I have a passion for sativas, yet i grow mostly indicas...
my own strains usually.. tailored to myself. But i adore smoking sativas, and grow some any chance i get...
my ideal plant would be a strain that was a sativa that finished as fast as an indica... regardless of size or yield.
i grow in the mountains, with a very extreme summer, short, hot and dry. which ends in early september with fogs and high humidity and still slightly warm days inbetween... mold and fungus heaven. they also have to be very mold resistant.
i havent once been able to decently finish any sativa strain in these conditions. just growing the seeds and giving them all the love and care needed to absolutely thrive is not enough to replicate the exilerating highs i achieved from the weed smoked when travelling.
but i dont stop looking, and experimenting. trying this trying that... mixing some..
if i smoke something amazing and it has seeds i keep them. i take them home. i grow them.. some pass, some dont... its quite fun.
