Contest (Ends April 20th)
The Contest. This one is a simple contest for all of you to enter. In fact we need all your entries in this one.
The decision is to be decided upon by the mods, and you the memebrs too!
The mods will narrow the final decision down to 5 potential winners, than we wil post a public poll, where everyone will vote on the final winner, mods and members alike.
Whoever Posts The Best Bud Shot.
This winner would be the member who takes the best bud shot.
The bud shot can be either, a picture of the final product, (dried & cured) or still growing on the plant, no matter. It just has to be admirable/desirable.
Post your submissions into this thread!
The pictures submitted, will be used on our front page, where we rotate a new picture on every page load.
The prize is cool too, and theres no hype, just a nice, simple workable hydro kit. I like simple.
Deep Water Culture is quickly becoming one of the most popular hydroponics methods for growers everywhere. Deep water culture operates without a seperate reservoir, the plants roots actually live in the reservoir. The dissolved oxygen level is maintained at 100% through constant aeration, so the roots have a constant supply of air as well as water and nutrients. It is simple to set up and promotes large healthy plants that require little to no maintenance.
The DWC starter kit offered by HID Hut can be used for an entire growth and flowering cycle, or can be used just to start plants that weeks later can later be transferred into one of our larger bucket DWC Kits (They all take the same size net pots). We suggest a minimum of 100 watts of light for this DWC kit, per plant - so up to 4 can be placed under a single 400 watt light to start plants, or as few as one can be used under a 400 watt light for a complete growth cycle. Container is 21" x 16" x 7"
The kit includes everything needed including reservoir, net pots, 2 outlet aerator, 2 air stones (to be positioned on opposite ends of reservoir). All you need is Water and Fertilizer. We suggest 2 part Sensi Grow and Sensi Bloom fertilizer for Deep water culture. Retail is $80.00
umm.....how many pics can we enter....can they be pics of same strains...cause by the end of this contest you may see...30 diff plant pics from me..lol...peace az

Good question, and the the spirit of trying to be fair, two points come to mind, the pictures have to be of your own pot plants, not found on the net somewhere.
Also, in reference to 2stoned, you can eneter upto 30 pictures for this contest, however....only ONE of your entries can be in the final top 5.
Meaning the last top 5 entries have to be from different people, giving 5 people a chance to win.
Peace
PS, what a coinsidence, we both said 30 pics hey? lol

Buddy, a bud at any age, can be a very pretty thing.
It depends on how you take the picture. Play with the close-up settings and go to town. If you get into macro mode, you can get a pic of the trichs, that could be way cool.
Play around with the camera, this contest may require you to either (a) read the directions on your camera (finally) or (b) ask someone to explain it to you. lol
Good luck!
Peace

Damn, I'm gonna have to cop some bud to be able to participate. I'm not growing at the moment because they are doing a lot of work in the apartments we live in.

Mrs MRX, my camera was only about 80 bucks and its 7 megapixels.
There not expensive anymore.
2stoned, we are a very small community, one that has character and back bone, I think if someone says its there budshot, we should believe them, unless there is a reason not to.
Peace
There are a few other factors that can be added to make a good budshot into a GREAT Budshot...
Consider not only the pic of the bud itself, but what about the background, lighting and "accents" you can add to dress the pic up a bit.
One of the most beautiful shots I ever saw of a salmon was one that a fellow had caught, then posed the fish laying in some budding holly...and that holly bush set off the silver of the salmon like it was glowing silver! It was incredible, and all that was done was accent the beauty of the fish with a shrub...
Be creative...but no "make up" on the buds!

Make sure to have the GP homepage in the pic...
wait, no you don't I just have a habit of doing that... purely accidental lol.
IMO budding plants about to finish look the most magnificent to me.. dried buds hasn't ever made me 'want it" before.. unless it's poundage lol.
Yep, to me a bud is at it's best about harvest time. The remaining sugar leaves can go to all sorts of colors to enhance the glowing trichs..(shit...this is making me hungry..LOL!).
Using a Macro lens is a real plus for the close-up's, and with a flash under an HPS you can get the trichs to really stand out.

PS i am a pathological liar, and have illusions of grandeur. I post pictures of pot plants i found on the internet and i have never nor will i ever consider the cultivation of marijuana, as it is illegal.
Ice, that pic looks promising but it's thumbnail size. You might want to resize.
Ok, here are my first 10 contributions. I have 20 more pics left to enter. Remember, I'm using a crappy 3.1MP Sony camera with 3x zoom, so the quality of the closeups is limited.
There are a couple pics in my gallery, i don't know how to upload them or whatever, but if you check out my gallery and click or double click on the pictures they are very high res.
