Tutorial for DIY Autowater/feed system
Was asked to do a turorial on how to make the small system so here we are..
2 pot system.. but just add more 2 way gangs for more watering outputs. this pump would be ok for 4 pots..
Pic 1.... these are all the pieces u will need. Apart from a bucket or sorts
Timer
Small Aquarium pump
air/water tubing 6mm
2 way gang connector
Small T pieces
The more plants u want to water the more powerfull pump u will need and the more connectors etc!!
Once u have all heres what u do...
Pic 2... Watering parts
Cut two small sections of tube as these will become the watering parts that go into the pot and connect them to the sides of the T piece. (optional) u might want to cut a few holes out of each side of the watering elements as to allow the water to escape over a wider area (not just at the end)
pic 3... Two way gang connection
Cut another length of the tubing (desired length) and connect an end to the pump and the other to the single connector on the T piece.
Pic 4... water lines
Cut another 2 lengths of the tubing, these will be the main water lines from the 2 way gang to the watering ends that sit in the pots..
Once u have cut the tubing to the desired length attach an one end of each piece to the 2 way gang and the other end to the watering parts made earlier...
ok once u have completed those easy steps u can go ahead and test it all by placing the pump into a bucket of water and the watering elements into another empty bucket..
Place the pump as low down the bucket as possible and switch it on.. Theres a dial on the pump to change the speed of the pump and there are taps on the 2 way gang. now switch it all on and see how long it takes to fill the bucket with the amount of water u would usually use to water your plants (all of them) as this is how long u must set the timer for!!
Mine is set so it takes about half hour to fill a 12 liter bucket as i like the plants watered slow!!
once its working go ahead and set the timer up to water when lights come one(my preference really) or anytime that suits you everyother day or whatever your requirements..
Hope this is of some help!!
