How would i go about setting up my lighting in a Metal Grow Closet?
Cabinet is 7 Ft tall,

So my question's are :
Planning on using CFL's,Coming in from the top of the closet,so i'm able to raise and lower the light's, But how do i get alllllll those individual cfl bulbs onto one platform and get electricity?
What wattage of Cfl bulbs do i need to get/have??(can i pick them up at lowes, home depot?)
Would a 37'' shop light fluro be a idea?(the watts are low tho)
im just stuck on How do i get all these bulbs on one surface and have power to it,

Im trying to stay away from hps,mh,hid, all together until i get a few grows undermy belt. Plus a few other various reason's. soim planning on going cfl the WHOLE GROW.
I like the idea about the 3 socket 18'' fixtures with the y splitters,
Umm lets see,
It will be a soil grow.
With 2 (3 if i can fit it) plants. ( 1. blueberry 2.purple skunk )
I Plan on having lights on the top and also lights on the side,
just stumped right now,i got he doe to get everything at the moment, but stillunsure and waiting for the seeds to get back.
is there a certain number of cfl watts i need to have a decent grow?

Rep Power: 312 | | Here is my setup
I've thought about a metal cab also, for my next setup.
This is my veg setup... VegLights.JPG
I got the screw in y's for three of the sockets. Make sure you get "cool" or "daylight" CFL's and as it gets closer to flower, start adding the "warm" color. I think the sockets were a little over a dollar a piece and a heavy duty extesion cord for the wiring. Have a look at my Winter 08 grow for my HPS setup and air flow, link in sig... Air flow is very important growing in a cab. Light leaks are problems, too...and very important to get fixed.
Hope that helps...
Peace.

Oh! I've flowered with that CFL setup...but will not produce what a HPS will, for about the same energy cost.

I start out low and increase wattage and bulb count as they progress. No real set wattage. You can't seem to get enough out of them in flower, the bulbs, no matter the wattage. They just don't have the penetration and you end up with more heat...I personally will probably not use CFL's any more, just cause of the number of bulbs and wire connections needed. But you can have successfull small cfl grows. Quote:

This is good counsel Contro, FoO is a good dirt grower. My input would go with germin 1 seed at a time, since they sound like pretty good genetics, and do a SCROG. Construct a large mesh shelf like that you can put into your cabnet about 1/3rd the way up. Use your 3 seeds one at a time to learn 1. The strain your growing, pay attention to the little querks the plant goes thru as it grows along the scrog. 2. How good a farmer you are or gonna be.. 3. And to see if you wanna stick with CFLs for your grows start to finish. These 3 seeds could be the best teachers you'll ever get to learn how to grow well. Luck with your decision, I'd just do it 1 at a time personally. Luck again.

Thats a good Idea too. Would probably work better for CFLs. I'm thinking I'm going to use this tactic in the future also...but with clones. You may get a not so good pheno or a male if you crack one at a time...just my opinion... The most important thing is to get your cab in growing order and get the feel of growing indoors. Whatever you decide, Good Luck! Keep us updated! Peace.

Thanks a whole Lot!! I Took notes ;)
I Know the bill wouldnt sky rocket with a mh,or hps, --
But that would give off a greater heat signature right?which means a greater risk of gettin busted, ?
So i aint feelin that, better safe then sorry.Just now trying to get my shit back together. Thanks for taking the time out to respond ,all of yall,
i feel more confident then before, know more of what im looking for when i start puttin the pieces of the puzzle together,

400 watts of CFLs get warm too... never used a two 200w configuration that might run cooler than my fixture with a bunch of bulbs, think I had it to almost 300w. Got pretty warm...
