Rep Power: 39 | | Question about a homemade carbon filter-
Should the fan be blowwing into or pulling from the filter for the best results?I plan on building this one-http://www.greenpassion.org/f39/homemade-carbon-filter-diy-j-angel-style-7479/For a small space (3-4 ft sq.) What kind of fan would be best?Plus, Dollar General sells this "Closet Deodorizer and Dehumidifier" for about $3. It says "Activated Charcoal" on the package but I doubt its 100% charcoal... I was thinking of buying one and seeing what it is. Who knows, it's moisture absorber might be similiar to those water crystals, in which case I could add a little water and odor eliminator....Its kind of like this- http://www.walgreens.com/store/produ...od2568055Think I could use it in place of the jar aquarium charcoal?

I put it on so it is PULLING through the filter from the room. This is the correct way I beleive.
Love to see a picture.

jangel is correct SUCK dont BLOW. lol....ok maybe i added a little of my own perversion in there.... :-P
and i use aquarium activate charcoal too. I like to crush it up by putting it in a bag and smashing with a rolling pin....the finer the better. I tried grinding it in a coffee grinder one time....but it makes a huge mess and can blow out your motor.
good luck!

So Do you think a computer fan will be powerful enough for such a small space, or do I need a diff fan?

You can get little fans from wallmart for about 6 bucks and hang them in there. Until they get bigger, you little fan will do, but I would advise you to get a bigger one in time. or 2. I have 3 just in my veg area, and a small comp fan I just blow on my babies. The more air moving you get, the better for the plants. Not to blow them out of the dirt or anything. Just to keep them moving SLIGHTLY will strengthen the stems.
Peace

I use 2 computer fans and a large oscilating fan for my closet.
They are all hooked to my timer. They go out and come on with the lights.
I have one up top at the door exhausting and one at the bottom pulling air in.
The oscilating fan blows on the plants and circulates the air.
Shaman told me when I started that you want to completely refresh the air in the space every 5 minutes.
Shaman said " Fresh air is just as important as light and water" when growing marijuana.

Would a hepa filter get the pollen out of the air? I might be flowering indoors and vegging outdoors.

Well I plan on only having 2 plants... Maybe 8 could fit in the space but they'd be super tiny lowryders...
