Rep Power: 38 | | Panda Plastic and 2x4 Grow Box
I wanted an easily broken down but still completely enclosed (and climate controlled) environment. My main concerns are temperature, odor control and vertical space.
This is what i came up with....
Made from 2x4s, plywood and panda plastic, I think this new area will allow for some healthier plants.
My old grow box was a total of 48 cubic feet. A comfortable canopy size of 12 cubic feet. The new area is about 56 cubic feet with a comfortable canopy size of 20 cubic feet!!
First
I first decided how large the room needed to be while keeping things nice and snug to ease climate control. By laying everything out and measuring. Then, I cut plywood for the ceiling and floor and completely wrapped the plywood in panda plastic.
Second
I then attached the plastic-covered plywood ceiling to the ceiling. I then attached eye-hooks to hang fans and lights.
Third
All of the eye-hooks attached for the fans.
Fourth
I then laid down the floor (another piece of plywood wrapped in plastic and began adding 2x4 supports. Starting with the back.
I cut the plastic to fit (double-thickness in back since i can't get to it). The rough fit...
Now the plastic is nice and snug!

Fifth
And the framing continues...
Sixth
Time to test fit everything (AC/Heater, Fans, Reservoir and Lights) Hey! Look who is hitching a ride on the lights! It is our old pal, Nutty!
Also note the additional 2x4 support in front - so i can mount the timers and such.
Seventh
Added rear 2x4 horizontal support to hang electrical outlets, air pumps and fans. The wrapping in plastic continues - securing with staples and sealing with gorilla tape on the outside and white duct tape on the inside.
Eighth
Mounted timers on on a piece of plywood ....
Nutty makes sure the exhaust hole is clear!
Time to test the light....

panda plastic is great stuff. I like to use it going from the side walls to the inside of the door to prevent light leaks from the hinge side.
