Fan Speed control

Hey All,Has anyone seen or check out this Harbor freight.They have a store close by me.They got a lot of cheap tools and other stuff.I have seen those Fan Speed Controls on hydro sites selling for $30.00 and up.this place here has them for $19.99.The pix looks just like the one thats on my routertable and its a good one.I have gotten somethings from them and it has been good quality.So if you need one thats not a bad price. I've got that same one on my 6" Vortex, and it does a hellofa job. The price you mentioned above is about half of what I paid for the one I bought...

I'm going to order a few of those tomorrow. Got several other fans I could use them on.

Update:

Bought 2 of the controllers this morning, and also found some damn low cost (5.99) submersible water pumps along with a good 2 device timer (9.99)

It is the same timer I just paid 19.99 for at a hydro shop!:Good Job:

ISO glad you like,take a look at this place.I'am getting a R/O filter from them,alot cheaper than the box stores and pumping supply houses.buckeyefieldsupply.com they are the cheapest.Some of that stuff at harbor is junk and some is what you pay alot more some place els. Peace

I would be careful with speed controllers on fans that are not designed for them, as they put a load on them and can start a fire if you are not careful.

Vortex fans are designed to accept electronic speed control. Here is a website on electric motors and speed control compatability. Shade pole and PSC motors are the hot ticket.

Hey framster you are right on about not all motors are good to use with speed controls.But most of the fans sold by hydro shops you can use speed controls.It's the smaller fans that you dont want to do that with.And I dont know of any 3 phase fans and the start capacitor motors used for fans.Good link there too. I love harbor freight. They have great prices and theres a store not even 10 mins from me. Some stuff they sell is cheap but if you know your tools you can usually tell. They also offer extended warrantys on power tools. I usually pick the $20.00 plan for 2 years and you can exchange it whenever it breaks. So i suggest that if you buy something cheap get the extra warranty its worth it.

Same damn controller I just paid them $19.99 for a few months ago...but I'll take 2 more at this price.

God I love that place..they got more stuff than any shop monkey could ever want!

They most of the time sent me there mail circular but not this time.If you like that place you will love these two, surpluscenter.com I got my fans from them and here's one you will be looking at for along time is usplastic.com buckets, barrels all kinds of stuff.I will be making a purchase from them soon.They have all the tubing and fittings,and buckets with lids for under $5.00 each.Check out those two sites .It's a hydro diyers dream.
