Hey everybody,I just finished these buckets today and loaded them up with clones. The last time I did dwc I had to lift the plant and lid up off the bucket to change it out.I didnt have a pump at the time so no sucking it out.I came up with this set up.It can be run as a drip system or recirculating system and flood and drain and just plain DWC.To drain it I hook the pump intake up to the drain line and turn the valve and the pump switch. All drained in a min or so.To refill lift the blue cup and pump it in and watch the site tube for the level you want.It easier to mix 8 or 10 gals nutr and PH them then add them to the buckets. On the build of the buckets I made jiggs and use my trim router to cut a prefect cleance hole for the drain.I drill a hole in the pvc cap and tap threads for a 1/2" close nipple.I cut a bucket down with the router and glud it and chauk it together.Nice stands for them. Will the rest you can see. Peace
The last of them. The clones are mango and has roots 12" long and white.the plugs are the same size as the top of the bucket lids.Hope this works like I want it to. Peace
Thanks JPB.Ithink it should,I throught about it and I didnt want to move the buckets at all while changing nutr.I can see the water level know when to top off just at a look. I'am happy so far. Peace
Hey toke on my system i used clear tubing like u did and alot of algae grew inside the tube. I have changed the tubing on mine to a solid color not clear. You might wanna do the same or use black tape to wrap the tube so algae doesnt build up.
Hey I really like your set-up. I have been saving kitty litter pails for 1/2 a year or so. When I get 12 of them I am going to build a system similar to yours, but was planning on cutting half of them in two and making a stand for each bucket. I actually am thinking about using it as practice on a tomato crop for a third run late this summer. I like your plumbing ideas and have taken notes.
I different topic, I have seen people use coffee containers a grow pots in several pictures. I have never used them because I thought they might be harder on the plant when re-potting. Do the sides slip right out using these containers ? Anyway, I am used to black nursery pots where the root ball pops right out. Is this the case with these ? Inquiring minds want to know ....
Thanks Dager420,No you have to let the soil dry out a bit before transplanting. But there not that hard.If they dont want to come out I cut down both sides.I got 25 or 30 more of them.Peace

I was thinking that it might do that but wasnt for sure, thanks.I've got some ridged plastic tubing coming so I'll be changing that out.I guess any colors that's dark will work? Peace
Yah looks great toke.... Great pictorial to..
I'm still contemplating hydro in some fashion.. not to sure yet. I shall be watching your grow with a keen eye....Good luck . It looks like it should run quite smoothly..
Hey All,Well the buckets work fantastic. So much easyer to change the water.I drilled the hole in the lids the same size hole as the cloner lid. This makes it easy to pull out of the cloner and pop in the buckets without messing with net pots and hydroton and waiting for the roots to get over the trans plant shock.I changed the buckets I hooked up a pump to them and in a min and a half it was empty.Refilled them right out of my water nutr mixing barrel.I fill them from the top, just pull out the blue cup on top and put the hose in.All done in about 10 mins start to finish. Here's a couple pix of the change and yesterdays pixs of how much they have grown. If you try DWC you will like it. Peace
