DIY-S.O.G. shelves
I really wanted to be able to rotate plants, and get a perpetual harvest. My goal was to be able to harvest every couple of weeks depending on the strain and flower time. The only problem I have is I only have one light in my flowering room at this time. As you can imagine it is hard to keep a true sea of green with one light, maybe technically its impossible. Well, the other option is to go with no rotation and harvest every other month. Personally I have a hard time waiting through those long periods between harvests. By the time the plants are done I end up wasting too much, smoking it before it is truly ready.
When I tried to get the perpetual harvest going, I would bring in new clones every 2 weeks. By third cycle of clones being brought in (approx 6 wks after first set) the light had to be moved so high for the other plants, the new plants suffered. This might be confusing but my pictures of plants height differences should say it all.
So I had a moment of clarity when I decided to make shelves on each end of the space. With a 600w hps I can just barely illuminate a 4'x5' area. So I cut the space into 5 one foot sections, all four feet long. So If my flowering time is 9 wks roughly, I take clones every other week. I numbered the sections on the floor 1,5,9,7,3 representing the weeks they have been flowering. They will stay in each one of these positions for two weeks. The first two weeks they are on a shelf on one side, then moved to another shelf on the opposite side. By moving them back and forth throughout their lives, the plants will get more light as they get older. This system allows me to move the light as well as the two shelves to accommodate the plant sizes.
Hopefully this is not too convoluted, and the pics should help.
grrrroooow team!
