Cool Diy Odor Control

This is a little something I gathered from surfing abroad.
Take a cheap mercury vapor light fixture($29 w/bulb),
carefully break outter glass only!!!(they suggest wrapping in old towel etc. it is pressurized use caution mercury gasses)Do not break inner bulb, this is the Ozone generator. Now use the light fixture to power the bulb, rigg this into your exhaust duct(you can use proper size box to enclose light bulb and cut duct holes at each end)
and you have instant odor control....
NOTE: OZONE IS TOXIC/DO NOT LOOK INTO THE LIGHT
(it WILL damage your eyes)

This can also be adapted for other uses(just use precautions)

Gee, this kinda sounds dangerous to me.
Maybe I'm just an old wimp?

Seems there are safer methods to control odor. I made an odor filter using a cardboard box with 3 cheap furnace filters, with activated carbon between the filters. Works great. It just looks like a cardboard box, sitting on a shelf, outside my grow room.

I agree doesn't sound safe. The old saying an accident waiting to happen comes to mind.

It doesn't have to be so complicated. While working in the water/air purification industry,I installed many similar air purification units costing several thousand dollars per unit.
If your not handy with things don't attempt this.
Dissassemble the light fixture,Take a 5gl metal bucket mount bulb holder inside the lid,cut 2 holes 1 on each side(centered on bulb area)the same size as your vent duct, secure duct to bucket, wire light to only come on while air is flowing(ozone will depleat oxygen levels exhaust must be running)
The modified bulb is UV,and it will damage eyesight(just dont stare at it).
I have not built this unit,I only understand the principal it is based on.
I'm only spreading information, one good application for this unit would be
for odor control of a large grow room or large drying fan.
