TOBACCO TEA:::
Tobacco tea is a great organic insecticide,it kills on contact and is residual for a few weeks on hard surfaces.
IT WILL KILL PLANTS ALSO (extreme care needs to be used when being applied)
Start with a 1 gal container.
Add 1/2 pack of chewing tobacco.
Fill with water & let dwell for 3 days.
Strain out and add to garden sprayer 4oz tea to 1gal water

DEATH by HEARTBURN:::
This mixture will kill ants & their relatives
3 1/2 oz of sweet jam (jelly)
1 1/2 tlbs of wet cat food (cheap brand)
1 tlbs of boric acid

GET THEM DRUNK:::
This mixture will eliminate spider mites
Mix 1 cup rubbing alcohol with 1 qt cool water
Put into spray bottle be sure and test a leaf first before spraying to be sure you wont harm the plant.
If mixture is to strong reduce alcohol to 1/2 cup wait 24hrs to reapply(making sure to spray underside of leaves)
Apply during cool hours for best results!!!

ANNOYING GNATS:::
Bait & Trap
Gnats are easy to eliminate just by using vinegar & water.
Use a small jar fill 3/4 with water add 1 tlbs vinegar
Place jar near plants. The gnats will come to check out the jar and be killed.
To control their larvae in the soil use an organic product called "Neem" (it can be found in most garden shops)

rubbing alcohol is not bad but i prefer pure isopropanol, normal ethanol would work too.

like the heartburn mix, that was new to me

Here is another kills all product.
Diatomaceous Earth(pool filter D.E.)is a fine powder with a crystal like grain,it will get into insect joint crevises and cut them like razors.Causes them to bleed to death.
You can spread this around the yard,apply to pets/garden.JUST REMEMBER IT RINSES RIGHT OFF.(so apply when no rain is expected for a few days)

I recently ran across a "warning" about intoducing tobacco diseases into the growroom, by the unclean "hands" of smokers. The below list of plants affected by TMV is only a partial listing of plants that TMV attacks.

Personally, I think that more research is warranted before iI would introduce something into the growroom, that could kill the whole crop.

This is one site I found on TMV:

UCONN IPM: Integrated Pest Management:Greenhouse:Some Virus Diseases of Greenhouse Crops
Tobacco mosaic virus (TMV)
Tobacco mosaic virus has a wide host range but is especially a concern on solanaceous crops. In recent years, TMV has been reported on ajuga, calibrachoa, cyclamen, epimedium, gerbera, helianthus, impatiens, lisianthus, lysimachia, New Guinea impatiens, nicotiana, pepper, petunia, penstemon, tomato and torenia.
Symptoms include yellow mottling, upward leaf curling and overall stunting. Some infected plants may not show any symptoms at all. Different strains of TMV exist, too. A specific strain known as odontoglossum ringspot virus (TMV-O) causes ringspots or line patterns on orchids.
TMV is not transmitted by insects!

TMV is a very stable virus that can be spread by contact. Workers can easily spread this virus when they handle plants or when cutting tools become contaminated. TMV can persist in dried tobacco leaves, so tobacco products can also be a source of TMV.

Discard infected plants including roots. Disinfect hands by washing with milk, or tri-sodium phosphate and then thoroughly with soap and water. Smokers need to wash their hands before entering the greenhouse so they do not infect plants. In greenhouses, hard surfaces such as doorknobs, or flats can become contaminated after handling virus-infected plants and remain a source of infection. Thoroughly disinfect the growing area with a commercial disinfectant.
............................................ another site:
Tobacco Mosaic virus - The tobacco mosaic virus can attack a wide range of plants, including tomato, pepper, eggplant, tobacco, spinach, petunia, marigold, and our beloved herb marijuana. On marijuana the virus infection causes light and dark green mottled areas on the leaves. The dark green areas tend to be somewhat thicker than the lighter portions of the leaf. The leaf mottling is seen more easily if the affected plant surface is partially shaded. Stunting of young plants is common and often is accompanied by a distortion and fern-like appearance of the leaves. Older leaves curl downward and may be slightly distorted. Certain strains of the virus can cause a mottling, streaking and necrosis of the buds. Infected plants are not killed, but they produce poor quality buds and low yields. Tobacco mosaic, is incited by a virus. The tobacco mosaic virus is very stable and can persist in contaminated soil, in infected plant debris, on or in the seed coat, and in manufactured tobacco products. The virus is transmitted readily from plant to plant by mechanical means. This may simply involve picking up the virus while working with infected plant material, then inoculating healthy plants by rubbing or brushing against them with contaminated tools, clothing, or hands. Aphids are not vectors of the virus, although certain chewing insects may transmit the pathogen.

Solution - Virus diseases cannot be controlled once the plant is infected. Therefore, every effort should be made to prevent introduction of virus diseases into the garden. Sanitation is the primary means of controlling virus diseases. Infected plants should be removed immediately to prevent spread of the pathogens. The use of tobacco products during cultural practices should be avoided to prevent inoculation of plants with the tobacco mosaic virus. Those people using tobacco or working with infected plant material should wash their hands thoroughly in soapy water before handling your plants.

I SAW SOMEWHERE ELSE THAT YOU CAN KILL TMV BY BOILING YOUR DIY INSECTICIDE

Happy Smoke Trails,

Framster
