Default Phoenix and its cameras...

You may or may not know em, traffic cameras that monitor our movement and conduct in traffic. They work 24/7 and won't ask if you been rushing your pregnant wife or injured kid to hospital, they get you a ticket. But the biggest problem is not the ticket - besides that i can still recall being escorted by police cruiser to hospital once after stopped me for speeding, neighbor's boy chopped into his leg with a chain saw, nasty thing - but that these things monitor our movement, we are not anymore anonymous travelers with these things around. Now in Phoenix similar concerned citizens formed a grass root group that is marking these camaeras with temporary signs, so not damaging anything, to bring public awareness to these orwellish cameras.

We should follow this idea to mark cameras that are spying on us everywhere, starting with those the Gov is putting up to monitor us (actually, if someone is monitoring their property as in a shop i don't mind them, as they just protect the business and property of that person but they shouldn't be hidden as i want to be aware of being filmed by a third party - guess everyone is aware of these certain kind of fitting room videos)

Those are pretty common almost everywhere these days, supposedly to "locate and intercept terrorists before they can carry out their evil plots". I am waiting for the remote control sensor in our TVs to actually be cameras watching us day and night. It's really not that far of a stretch: the sensors already detect infrared light. Micro cameras are already used by the military (and we see military hardware going to law enforcement even now). The TV is likely hooked up to cable (if not hooked up you may be compelled by law to do so in the near future) which can just as easily carry a signal out as in....
Put two and two together and the right to privacy may already be out the window with the baby and the bath water.

If these folks were serious they would not screw around with signs, they would destroy the cameras faster than they can be put up, with weapons if need be!

Later,

I'm 100% in agreement with their ideals, but they need a better slogan that ALL ages will consider and understand. Think about it...you are driving, and all you get is a quick glance at that sign...the WORDS need to stick in your mind and make you THINK about what is going on...

Something like:

" Where has your RIGHT TO PRIVACY gone????"

"See this? Osama won, didn't he?"

JMHO

Green,

Thanks Dude...but really, any decent marketing person can come up with that stuff all day long...it's more of understanding your audience, and sadly this fellow has the best intentions but doesn't understand WHO it is he needs to get the attention of....cause it ain't the people putting up the cameras, it's the people beeing viewed by those cameras that need to stand up and demand the change.

Our "Government" seems to have forgotten who they work for.

"WE THE PEOPLE"
