Umm... this guy is giving some very, very bad advice.
I'm not sure how it works in the UK - but, he is completely unaware of our laws, I can assure you.
In most states, you MUST carry an ID. You MUST identify yourself to law enforcement. Failure to do so can get you locked up until they figure out who you are - perfectly legally, too. You WILL be fingerprinted and, if they want your DNA, they just take it from anything you use to drink. In Texas, for example, they can hold you for 72 hours for suspicion - of anything. You're gonna get thirsty in 72 hours - or die.
Listening to this guy could get you locked up for a very long time because you think you know your 'rights'.
In my experience, the only way to deal with cops is to make yourself a human being in their eyes. This isn't easy and, sometimes, it's completely impossible. But, the fact is, you are NOT a human being in their eyes until you make yourself one. You are the 'them' in their own little 'us and them' world. The only way to really get through to them is to somehow get them to see you as a real person. I have, occasionally, managed to pull it off. But, only occasionally, and with mixed results.

thanks for that, I don't know how it works in the usa either. In Britain there is no obligation to carry id, and in the states as far as I have read there is no obligation to submit to a search. I guess he is recommending personal civil disobedience. I like the cut of his jib, but it is very good to know that it won't cut the mustard in the US. Only an extraordinary rendition would get my feet on the ground in the USA, be sure that I have many friends over there, and free villa in the SE when I fancy, so nothing personal to any individual. I won't travel to countries where the death penalty is still on the books. Matter of principle. | | The Following User Says Thank You to Psyops For This Useful Post: | |

It's pretty much a police state here... like every old WWII movie you ever saw with gestapo agents at every train station...
"Papers please. Can I see your papers?"

me - i see ... do you need to know who i am?
him - ...
me - can i go inside now?
him - ok. next time bring id...
