Hey guys, I live in the states, where it is illegal to fly over w/o a warrant. Yet, i'm POSITIVE I've seen FLIR helicopters flying in my neighborhood. I'm assuming that if their flying overhead, they already suspect someone is growing around me. My question to you my fellow green thumb's is: Should i proceed to start my garden knowing the pigs are already flying overhead? I'm using a 600w HID and my setup will be in the basement, room in a room type setup. The heat will be ventilated within the house. Also, any quick shout outs of reputable seed co.'s that will deliver to the states? The ones I have researched all say they won't deliver to countries where seeds are illegal. THANKS GUYS,

so far as I know they don't need a warrant to use flir but they use it based on tips to gain more probable cause to obtain the warrant. As long as you don't have grow room heat vented out of a single hole in the side of your house then you should be good, and even then they may just assume its a dryer vent.

you are right. they are allowed to use FLIR from a distance, the thing is that they cannot use that alone to get a warrant or arrest you. however, they can use that and then decide to follow/stake you out until they get more evidence and then can get a judge to sign a warrant.

you dont have to get a warrant to use infrared cameras with thermal imaging. hell....if you have enough money you can buy a camera and look out your windows like a creeper and see the heat signatures from your neighbors having sex

I wouldn't think so, unless you have a skunk stank coming out of that window. I know they have been known to also walk the drug sniffing mut down the block and see what house it stops in front of. You just need to make sure that you don't tell anyone, and if you have, go see them again and work in a conversation about how your crop died and you had to sell all your equipment cause it wasn't worth the risk. Chances are if they are informing they will call the guy (cop) and tell them that its now a waste of time.

but first question is, why would you have a window up for a long period of time....in the winter? if your venting the heat thru out your house from the basement?

Your set up seem's fine, you should be alright aslong as your grow is on the HUSH HUSH.
The #1 reason people get busted isnt because of cops finding there grow from FLIR's, but mainly because they told a friend....

make sure no light leaks out of the room your in , if theres a window, put cardboard over the blinds and hide with curtains
&
Have your lights run at night, and cut off during the day, thats a tip to deal more with summer time heat,
BUT
... it ease's some of the paranoia by being at home when the lights are on,
because if your at work while the lights are on, you never no when something goes wrong, and all you can think about at work is while your punchin the clock, your house could be fillin with smoke ....
