Man charged with making marijuana; police looking for drug suspect, man reports assault

06/25/08

By Kevin Myrick / RN-T staff writer

A man arrested Tuesday night is facing charges of manufacturing marijuana after Rome police investigated reports of fireworks being used, reports stated.

According to Rome police reports:

Brenton Keith Frost, 18, of 20 S. Blanch St., was taken into custody for charges of manufacturing marijuana Tuesday at 10:55 p.m. after neighbors called in reports that he was shooting off fireworks in his backyard.

When police arrived at the scene, they found Frost still shooting off fireworks. While searching the area, officers found a 6 to 8-inch tall marijuana plant growing in a pot in the backyard.

Police reported that Frost told them he found the plant growing outside a vacant house and took it to see if it would grow.

Frost remains at the Floyd County Jail this morning waiting for a court

Do farmers "manufacture" corn and soybeans? Do I "manufacture" tomatoes?

Unhappy 6/26/08 Mother & Son busted in S.C.

Hampton County authorities have thousands of dollars worth of drugs off the streets tonight, and a mother and son in custody.

It all went down in Estill, S.C., about 35 miles southwest of Walterboro. Authorities got word that some 27 pounds of marijuana was on its way via DHL. We're told the shipment was worth more than $100,000.

Jerome Hutchison and his mother, Sara, now face several charges.
