In todays economy and changing environment, MM is gaining in many states: see storm crows' thread about those states... Please go to the link and at least sign the petition, if you haven't already.. I have, and will read further... but 40hrs is hard to part with, because I run a 6 day aweek retail store.... business is off but I'll read more. 14 states seek to legalize medical marijuana
And business is what I'm here about... In light of all those states pushing for MM... how would one prepare to be affiliated with the legal distribution business?? I'm guessing one would need State permits, local permits and much more that I am totally blind to..
Is there a MM 101 site (or the like), that I can go to? I may go to SanFrancisco later this year or early 2010.. are there MM schools/whatever in CA? I know this sounds like the 'how much will I yield" question but I'm at a loss to articulate any better...
Hierarcy type stuff...???
If I'm outta mi mind.. lemme know..

Good question 4maggio. Knowing you as I do, I know you are wanting to fill a need, not having a need to fill your pockets. Just like we have watched caregivers get started, med patients go through for their med cards, this is also an important subject and something I know I have seen very little about.
Keep us posted on what you discover on this topic, 4maggio.
Peace

Oakstredam University in Oakland. Check out their forum & look 4 Dr. Apotcolyps. I was only on that forum 4 a minute, but he's the reasone I stayed as long as I did. All about the biz end. Very cool guy, has a hell of a story & is truly in it 4 compassionate care. Can give you all the ins/outs, advise you on a legal team, & he's already got permits & is "up & running". 98% of the people on that forum are complete TURDS/PUNKS who are only intrested in talking about the clones they grow, the bud they score daily @ the disp. & stupid sh*t having to do w/ the campus. I was warned by some oldschool breeders from SoCal about this University/forum. They will have NOTHING to do w/ it. A couple of days on the forum & I COMPLETEY understand why. Anyway Oaksterdam.com
Look 4 Dr.Apotcolyps if he's still enrolled/around. Also you might meet some kid who works @ a Disp. They can provide some legal insight 2, but dont get your hopes up. F'ing westcoast punks(lol) gonna ruin it 4 the rest of us!!!! Don't know how lucky they are | | The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to 1tru1 For This Useful Post: | |

A business is a business regardless of what youre doing with it. I have started and gone through the rigamoroll of establishing a non-profit company.
IF your state makes it legal there will be a process for it. Youll have to file the paperwork to start a business which typically requires a Charter(stating what your business will be doing) and of course this requires a fee. You will also have to obtain an EIN (employee identification number) for tax perposes from the Fed govt. There is a website and i think this part is actually free and takes about 10minutes.
Once you get those items taken care of im sure there will be some liscences youll need to get in order to be a retail, dispensary, store...whatever you are gunna be you need a liscence. SInce it will be about MMJ it will probably require some more stringant guidelines but they will be located on your state govt website. And im sure that liscence will cost more $.
It cost about $150 for me just to get my business registered in my state and i dont need a liscence yet. As a dispencary/medical type facility you might try for non-profit status i dunno and that was about another $700. But make sure before you PAY anything that you have set yourself up the proper way. I had to refile some paperwork with my state to satisty IRS nonprofit requirements which meant i had to pay another $125 to my state so the state and FED paperwork matched. I was doing this by myself with no forums...good luck

Thank you for the thoghts and reply, siriguejo, as I said initially, I currently own a retail store and I do understand the process of fees, permits and licences that 'all' the political factions that want payola for.. (bloodsucking B'sturds)..
and I appreciate your ideas about non-profit (just like acorn! YUK>).
Would there be any current dispensary owner/opertors that could add additional and not so obvious, nuances?
Hey Cali growers, is there somewhere on the web where one can go and get the proper paperwork for a MM dispensary op?
