My apologies Sprocket... I'm actually containing myself rather well concerning the nature of subject. Most people don't stop to think long enough to look inwardly and examine their true heart and admit that the things they have been taught all these years may not be true. I used to think of myself as a patriot. I used to defend the police. I was an idiot indoctrinated by the marketing engine of the war machine. It's a hard thing to look in a mirror sometimes.

I Hate Cops!

I just want to add my $.02 worth here and I don't wish to offend anyone. I personally don't count on cops in any form to protect me and my family. My number one defense is a large dog for my property my second line is my .45. I would never depend on anyone other than myself to protect myself.. What is in it for anyone to protect anyone else? I know that I would protect anyone that was being treated unfair and my own family and that is how I determine if someone is worthy of trying to protect me. If I have to pay them to help me when there is a life or death situation then they are not protecting me they are doing a job and are motivated by something other than protecting an innocent person or preserving life in general. I am not saying there are not cops out there like that. How many people do you know would help someone else in a life or death situation for nothing in return? I for one would I do not believe in paying for protection it will always lead to corruption and abuse of power. I won't go into to much more because for me this is a touchy subject and I tend to get to worked up but just think about a cops life for a while and the people the work with everyday and the things they see. If you can look at that and tell me with a straight face that most people out there could withstand the temptation of corruption then I will say that you know something that I don't. Just to be clear I did not say all but I am talking in part the majority of people. Any way that is just my opinion on cops and self protection Thanks and be safe.

Awesome thoughts Whitewidow! My sentiments exactly. It is a cops duty as a public servant to help people in need. It is regular citizen's civic duty as a member of the human race to help someone in need. I've never even heard of a cop preventing a mugging... mainly because muggings typically don't take place in plain view of cops... unless the perp is high on something... or just not paying attention. Either way I'm sure it's a rarity that they are actually able to protect people from wrong doers. They aren't really interested in going after these types of thugs because of the resources it takes to catch a low profile violent criminal. There's no money in it, but it takes a lot to catch 'em. So unless they are in the act of chasing them it get's low priority.

Home security is the responsibility of the home owner and don't expect the cops to really give a damn about your safety.

First of all........lol, I wasn't "thrust" into anything. I volunteered for military service with full knowledge of what I was getting into both mentally and politically. For me it was more about the protection and upholding of the constitution that anything else. I think I understand about the brainwashing and the mentality of the military because I experienced it first had and was aware of it while it was happening. I have many friends who leave the military wholly believing everything they were told, but that's not me. The military is a political machine, I agree, which is why I didn't choose to stay and have worked to help people educate themselves about the military before joining. You can attack my patriotism as much as you want because it doesn't matter to me what you say about that, I know where I stand and what I'm willing to do. Sounds to me like you wish to be french maybe, or canadian. I will say to you what I say to most people with such disgust and dissent toward government without the willingness to actually do something... move somewhere else. I don't like the fact that this turned into a back and forth attack here and don't understand why we can't just agree to disagree. I choose to give people, including cops, a pass on an individual basis until I know one way or the other if they are good people. Is that so bad?

You and I are free to think what we want ( a basic freedom we still have, that isn't available in other countries). Contrary to what you may believe we can both exist with our separate mentality, neither one of us has to change. To sit here and try to convince you any further would be futile, and quite frankly not my purpose. I was simply stating an opinion on how I felt on the situation and this has all turned into a bunch of bickering like a couple of high school kids. I can understand, even if I don't agree, what your views are and I can accept that. I would only ask the same from you.


I will not indulge this thread anymore as it seems pointless, and I don't wish to be angry at someone I don't really know. I don't know you, and would hate, if we ever met face to face, to base my opinions on you on this two day ordeal. So I'm done.
