This morning I looked at the financial news and the first two headlines were: "Jobless Rate Jumps to 10.2% as Labor Market Still Weak" and "AIG in the Black Again, Operating Profit Tops Views".
This is not a rant about Republicans or Democrats, but I just don't understand how we let our country get to this place. Millions and millions of people and families are struggling, losing their jobs and losing their homes, while giant companies who made very bad decisions and lost billions of dollars get all that money and more back from the U.S. taxpayers and go about their business. Essentially, they get the benefit of their profitable years and get to ignore all their bad years. It would be like me going into a casino, betting $1000 per hand on blackjack (which I can't really afford), then if I win I get to keep that money, and any hand I lose, the casino collects money from everyone else there and gives my losses back to me so I can keep playing and try to win again (which I will keep if I do win).
Yes, I know this is an over-simplified explanation of what is going on.
It just makes me so upset that individuals are supposed to take responsibility for their own mistakes and poor financial decisions, but giant companies get a free pass.

High spaceview.. simply stated but very accurate.
Lawyers (dems) & businessmen (Reps), together, they're like a palgue on humanity... world wide.. bushwacking, back stabing SOBs.
I agree it is all crap. All the rich are once again rich and the rest of us will continue to take hit after hit for 5 more years or more to ever see the end of this chit.
I'm not sure where I read this and not 100% on the stats or numbers but this is what I read. During the great depression it took 10-15 years for the banks and big corps to regain what was lost. It has been less then 1 year and most of the biggies are way back on track to record profits while millions of folk are suffering. Again, not word for word but close to what I read. Sick enough.
I don't think we've even started to see the bad end of this economic collapse. We're going into a depression and it will be much worse then the last one. We've already broken all the negative records the first depression set. Think about it, we don't have the industrial base we had back then and people are nowhere near as self-reliant as the people were back in the thirties. The dollar isn't going to recover from this one. We're going to lose our reserve currency status and most likely see the rise of a world currency. We're already seeing something like that happening now (SDR's).
If the government (run by the sickeningly rich of this world) is telling us that unemployment is at 10.2% then you can bet your ass it's much higher. Didn't Bernanke tell us we wouldn't see unemployment hit 10% not so long ago? These guys know what's going down because they caused it to happen. How can the President (take your pick) put the same bozos who created this financial firestorm in key financial positions? You don't use the men who broke the system and give them a chance to fix it because they're only going to wind up doing more harm.
I don't think America will ever bounce back and this whole thing was orchestrated to weaken us permanently. We've been using a system that was set up to fail (for the people, not for the banksters).

Lucky.. I hope you're right and Corsican is wrong. (no offence C!)
No offense taken Maggio! I'd love to see the country bounce back.
Smoke,
I agree but the only thing I would differ on is the government being for the corporations. I think it would be more accurate to say that the corporations are the government. I'd even go further (imagine that!) and say that there is a cabal of evil men who own most of the corporations in the world and are pushing us into a world government. Think about it, who writes the laws that Congress vote on? The corporations do, not the politicians.
We should all stand up and take our country back (non-violently). We've all been asleep for far too long and now we're beginning to pay the price. As time goes by that price will increase and more and more people in this country will suffer horribly.
this country is done, my friend, we are on life support, and the cord will one day be unplugged.
look at Rome. they thought they would last forever.
next stop: one world government

I agree Sprocket (that the country is finished) unless the American people can somehow awaken from their lifelong slumber and do what needs to be done quickly and efficiently. There is always hope (real hope, not the empty hope our "great leader" propagandizes the public with) when there are good men left in this world. All is not lost unless we choose it to be so. The people are the most powerful force in this country, all they have to do is believe it and then use that power.
Unfortunately, I don't see the people gathering their courage and doing the right thing at the proper moment in history. This isn't the same America it was during WWII or during the revolutionary war. Most Americans are poorly educated (including all the paper tigers that colleges and universities spit out every year) severely brainwashed, full of opinions based on absolutely nothing and weak-minded in general. The good news is that it doesn't take a majority to defeat tyranny and oppression. As little as 3% of the population could restore this country back to upholding the ideals of the Constitution and reinstating freedom and liberty in general.
Like you I see the one world government gaining more momentum and power as every day passes. Power is being centralized in the hands of very rich and evil men. Their minions are masterfully manipulating the masses with their shameless agendas. All of the laws of the western nations are being standardized, harmoniously merging together to form a larger, more powerful union. None of these things happened overnight, it has taken them decades to incrementally march us towards a global government. We're in the final stages and all the elite need are a few more perfect disasters to bring it all together.
Howdy Folks,
It really gets me about all the stuff going on behind our backs and that it isn't on the news across the country!
Here is a sample of what's goin' down... watch it and learn... this is just the "tip of the iceburg." I started following up on all this when Bush remarked "the constitution is just a GD piece of paper" and the more I learn... the more I feel our constitutional rights are becoming a piece of history!
Peace!

Peter Joseph (the man who produced Zeitgeist) is a shill and works for the elite on high. The same is true of Jordan Maxwell. They're disinformation agents. The hook they use is the truth about the Federal Reserve but everything following the Fed information comes from Helena Blavatsky, creator of Theosophy (the Luciferian Religion or the Religion of the elites). Pretty much all of the information in that "documentary" comes from four sources, and three out of those four sources got their information from Blavatsky, a known liar and pseudo scholar.
