Alright, I know Lilly went over part of this in another post, and I didn't find this anywhere else.
these instructions are subject to improvement:
take as much reef as you want, (we used an Oz of mids shhhh) grind it up, and put it in a mason jar.
fill this mason jar level to the reef with the highest proof liquor you can get your hands on.
let it ferment for at least a week. (we did one week)
after your week+ is up, toss whatever goo you have into a crockpot with 2 sticks of butter. 1oz/2sticks, and go from there, let that cook on loooow while you sleep.
wake up tomorrow(at least 8-10 hours) and use your buttery slop towards whatever recipe calls for it.
we made homemade cookies and got about 50-60 cookies from the batch. the cookies hit us within 30 minutes, total body high for a good 3-4 hours, followed by a vegetative state of laziness. one cookie was enough to get to where you needed to go. 3 to see shit, and 4 for some vivid dreams when you pass out a few hours into it.

Hey Thank you Cake! Great to have another cook around! These sound pretty deadly. When you say "an oz of mids," do you mean you can use trim for this? I have bags and bags of that but not of buds . Thanks very much.

we actually used mids(eww i know) but it was the first time we tried the whole fermenting thing, and didn't want to waste some good stuff it it didnt work.
to be honest, I don't see why you couldnt use trim. Ive smoked it before.. hah. I also smoked catnip once, but it was just to get the joint started for my cat. it was digusting and i don't wish it upon anyone. I've always just ground everything up in a coffee grinder and used it, stems, seeds, leaves and all. I hear about others using their fan leaves for cooking too.
The reason you would want to ferment in alcohol is becuase the molecules in booze are smaller than that in butter, or oil, so they are able to penetrate deeper into the reefer and extract more THC.
if you're not planning on using your trim for anything anytime soon I would say go for it. if it doesn't work then thats life, but if you get some wicked cookies out of it then its totally worth it. waste nothing! hah
oh, the serving size of the cookies was one heaping tablespoon of batter.
my girlfriend, the lightweight that she is, ate one, and within an hour or two couldn't walk, and was seeing symbols of the words she was saying and hearing. then she threw up BBQ chicken wings and strawberry cupcakes all over the floor, and went to sleep.

Thanks for the info! This goop sounds like you could use it for a lot of things. Like muffins or coffee cake, even spagetti sauce! When you cook it does all the alcohol boil off? My man does not drink and could get sick from any alcohol. Just want to check first!

Jangel, "mids" are the bud that is a quality between swag(yuck) and kind bud(known strains) aka sticky icky., So it is called mids.
It's usually pretty decent and affordable if you can't grow your own.

well, you don't want anything to boil, because then you're steaming all the THC off. with that being said, we didn't taste any alcohol at all. we used bacardi white rum, all we had atm. the cookies did taste like pot.. eh
yeah, mids are mid grade. if a 1/4th of cronic sells for 100$, a 1/4 of mids usually go between 30-40$. Most mids we get around here probably started out as some decent bud, but they get bricked(vaccum sealed so tight they become compressed patties) and tossed around with no care. Not a lot of time put into curing them, and they usally have seeds.
fatman's right, but... I still wonder if the high from cooking with good stuff would be different than the high cooking with mids. the cookies really knocked us on our asses by the end of it, like a zombie. so I wonder if we did use some good stuff it would have been more of "high" high.
and the GF refuses to eat anymore, I tried the whole half cookie thing, no avail. we were supposed to eat some chocolates that following weekend and that never happened.

if you don't want to use alcohol you can mix in an "o" of shake/whatever-you-got with 3 sticks sticks of butter and a couple tablespoons of vegatable oil. simmer for 6-8 hours. it helps if you stir it every hour or so...so maybe do it during the day (this will also help prevent grease fires that burn down your house ;)
when thats done, strain the mess through a metal strainer with relatively small holes into a butter container. you should come up with some nice, green cannabutter. i used it ( 1:1 ratio) to make potent, DELICIOUS brownies. nothing like a nice mix of weed and fudge! one 3x3 brownie would get you going pretty good, and with two you would have an AWESOME body all-body high for about 5 hours. i'm sure you could, just do the math and figure out how much butter to use... a quarter stick? i don't know if it would be worth the time and effort though. you can find trimmings/cheap weed/shake for really cheap... if not free.
if you have 3-4 grams of schwag... i would just roll a fat blunt or mix it in with hookah tobacco (60/40 mj/shisha). i love my hookah ;)

of course you can just stick the bud in the butter and go from there, but it wont be as potent. I used to cook that way before I tried this.
also you need to very careful when simmering, if you choose to use your stove, instead of a crockpot, use the lowest of the low settings. from 1-9, 9 being high, 3 is too hot.
-fatman, i would use no less than a 1/4 of cronic. it really wont be worth all the time you put into it. for a 1/4 of bud I would expect maybe about a dozen cookies, try to work the recipe around that

I wouldnt be too concerned about the alcohol. didnt taste any of it in the cookies, but I understand the hesitation about it. 151 would work the best, higher the proof the better.
fatman, we used 1oz mids, 2 sticks butter and that worked, i dont really have any experience with any other numbers.
ive always done it on the stove, never thought to use a crockpot before until this time, and it worked very well. the longer it's on heat, the better. just start it before you go to bed and you'll be good to go when you wake up.
dont know if i mentioned this, but we fermented it for a week. next time we're going to do it for 2 weeks, start expermenting with the varibles to see what makes a difference. maybe if its fermented longer, you wouldn't have to use as much bud.

For many people alcohol is a no no. I am wondering, do you keep the lid on this while cooking it? Even on a low heat, alcohol evaporates easily. In Canada we cannot get high proof booze like you do down in the states. That simple fact knocks more Canadian tourists on their ass when visiting! I had a very bad experiance myself when I was 18. It involved an emerg visit too! ...long story... anyway, next time somebody does this, try doing if they have it, a hydrometer reading. That shoud tell us if the booze evaporates. I have one....maybe I will give it a go with my crock pot this weekend, at least set it to stand in the booze.
