Nice recipe, but you might want to try simmering for 5 to 6 hours, not a half hour.
Enjoy~ Quote:

Once ground place the cannabis a place in the pot. Stir occasionally for about half an hour. Then strain the used cannabis and squeeze the liquid out. Put the strained mixture in the fridge. A few hours later go back and scrape all the solidified butter off the top and dump the nasty looking water left over out and enjoy the cannabutter in brownies or on your toast.
This way might take longer but is way better than any other way I've found out there. There is no chance in burning the valuable cannabis. Also if you look at the water you can see its brown/grey and extremly gross. You would normally eat that with other methods but not in this one so take the time out there guys and girls and make it good. |

ok ive made it before but just a quick question whats the best ratio of bud to butter? like 25 grams to every half ounce of butter? just need the best ratio. my bosses mom is suffering from the first stages of alzheimers and emphesima<sp> and shes been getting very um well over excited and staying up till 5 calling people. and they want me to make some brownies to help her calm down.

25g per 14g butter is surely a bit too plenty to still mix well enough to get anywhere by the way

how odd... I just tried this same recipe based on 1 oz. mj per 1lb. butter.
actually used 38 gr. good trim, 1/8 bag shake & fistfull of nuggets and 1 lb. of Tillamook butter.
used a crock pot to simmer for 3 hrs. nice, light green butter product.
tried toast: very light, mellow buzz, good for the guts
g/f used for brownies: yummy but no noticeable effect
dad used in fudge: yummy but no noticeable effect
made me sad

Do you have any trim or leaves from growing? I have used that before. If not, then bud is all you got to do it, it will work.
I have used trim from plants, tied into a nylon stocking and just cooked it for a day. It worked well.
Peace

in my experience 1 gram of bud for ever 3 grams of butter is a good ratio for a potent butter. and are you planning on making cookies with the butter?

yes,, cookies. and i dont have a small scale so im going by eye,, im saving my keif so i hope to use that in my butter,, i figured a shot glass full of keif should do the trick.. otherwise,, i can add some weed,, going by your ratio,, i figure 3.5 grams per stick of butter would do me fine.. hows about using water? should i bother or not?

adding water to the butter? they wouldnt mix and it really would just turn into a pointless excursion. what you could do is mix in some vegetable oil as it too extracts the fun stuff. but keif is also a good idea, it blends in well and there is a lot less straining, granted its harder to tell how potent it will be.

actually when cooking the butter some recipes call for boiling a water/butter mix then adding weed.. wasnt sure if thats necessary,, i heard it makes the butter taste better..takes out the bad taste in the butter,, ever hear of that method?

ive tried it and it just made the butter thin which isnt the best for baking, some like it some dont, its all about tastes. i do advise you to get a small scale for cooking it really does help in dosing correctly, me i love the taste of canna butter.

keif does work well, and the reason it didnt really mess you up is she didnt cook it long enough. most experienced cookers will tell you to do it for at least 2 hours, some up to six. but it does take a while on simmer. one expirement ive been thinking of trying is making the canna butter in a pressure cooker set on low.
