sometimes when I think my wife is being rediculous or mean (and perhaps she is) I try to remember all those times that I have been thoughtless or mean and think to myself...well of course it is going to come back to you at some point...and instead of blaming her or myself...I can respond kindly....I have been practicing that alot lately and it really seems to help the relationship....I remember there is a lot of baggage banging around and as I help clean it up, put in order, put it away nicely....our friendship seems to be expanding...and our conflict deminishing....as Earl would say "that's Karma for ya"

I had something similar to moonbiscuit's story happen to me.
I got hit in the face with an attic ladder at work a few years back. I was going up to get something for a customer. The little stick used to bring down the ladder slipped off the ring and it swung out and hit me in the face. A few days later I bought a dollar scratch off and hit the jackpot of $2500!!!

i guess it was good but in the end my hospital bill was around that. good thing work took care of it... a year later. The worst part of it all was the jittery intern asking how to knot the suture in my face.

I have heard of a rule of karma...not sure if this is right. That if you do something FOR karma or act like you are working on it, it does not count. Karma is something that should not be chased. It is something we cannot wiegh or express. I know much of what I do every day is for others. I sometimes wonder when it will be for me. That sounds selfish. But we also have to value and give to ourselves to stay balanced. I know if it is others always and never myself I take care of, I grow frustrated and unhappy.
Peace

I won't go into details but I am a total believer in Karma. I had some really crappy Karma come down on me due to some accidental bad Karma. I feel I am still working my way out from under that. The good news is that I have a lot of good Karma out there now and someday it will pay off. hehe Maybe **I** should buy a lottery ticket, seems to work for some of you.

I was at a pharmacy picking up my gf's bc pills. I overheard a woman next to me. She was ill and was a few dollars short for her prescription. She was going to drive home, get the $$, and return. I stopped her and offered to pay the difference.
She thanked me, then asked for my address so she could mail me the money. I told her to just pay it forward. She had never heard of that idea. I mentioned karma, and she had no clue what that even referred to. So I told her to just do something nice for someone, that was all the payback I needed. But she argued that I wouldn't have any proof she had complied.
Eventually I just left. I think she thought I was a bit loony. Maybe she blamed her perception on her fever. | | The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to 420oclock For This Useful Post: | |

Here's something to consider... Perhaps Karma was a religious doctrine invented in an attempt to control undesirable social behavior, to put a cap on crime. Convince enough people that whatever they do will come back on them and they will stop breaking laws. The laws of average say that most people are going to have bad things happen, so when it does Karma can be credited for those occurrences. The same with when good things happen. It's a win win for the social planners.

I believe most mistake Harmony for Karma. Like things balancing themselves out, or ironic happenings. Karma is something that comes to you in the afterlife |

And it does not have to be anything big either. I know here there is one chain of grocery stores that require you to put a quarter in to get a cart or they are all chained together. It is a bit of a pain. Anyway, there are many seniors around that store and one day I saw this poor dear walking towards the carts then struggling to get one loose. I had mine, complete with quarter in it. I said to her " Here dear take this!" it was like the sun broke out on her face and then she started scrambling for a quarter. I said no, not needed, and just walked away. 25 cents is not much to me but for her it could of been, and it made this poor sad lady smile. It gave her the feeling someone cared. I know many seniors live alone, with no one to care for them. I take care of my mum and always wonder how she would get by if I did not take care of her. I see all these old people struggling with groceries and feel so bad for them. No one to help them or do for them. Makes me sad. So it felt good to help someone at least to smile.
One other time, at the same store, an old codger with a walker came into the store. It was sooooo cold out that day, like 30- c. This poor dear came in and he was literally blue. I took him into the store where it was warmer and kept rubbing his hands till he got warmer. By then another staff person had come by and said this gentleman came every day to visit and buy his days food as he lived alone. They knew him and the staff person said they would drive him home as it was toooooo cold for him today. I felt cold and lonely just looking at this poor guy.
Peace

I know, it is sad, but we can all help when we see some old person struggling. It is so easy to lighten their load and make life a bit eaiseir for them. Just takes thought and caring. And you know, it is such a good way to earn karma if that is how you fly. I just do what I can, where I can. That is the best we all can do.
Peace
