The definition of Withdrawal,

"The collective symptoms that occur when a drug is abruptly withdrawn and known as "withdrawal syndrome" and are often the only evidence of physical dependence"


According to animal research and controlled studies of marijuana smokers during treatment of addiction, suggest that marijuana , just like with other drugs of addiction, experience withdrawal symptoms of many types. Symptoms of marijuana addiction are similar to smoking tobacco, the craving.

Marijuana withdraw symptoms include, irritability, anger, depressed mood, headaches, restlessness, lack of appetite, and cravings for marijuana. Symptoms of marijuana withdrawal first appear in serious habitual users within the first 8 hours and are the most noticeable during the first 10 days, but withdrawal symptoms may last as long as 45 days The withdrawal from marijuana is identifiable by behavioral and emotional distress.

Most people think marijuana is a benign drug, and there is disagreement in the scientific community about whether withdrawal causes significant symptoms. I think that it depends on the persons personality. For an example, some one who has a history of anger, depression, brain disorders, or even uses another drug with marijuana, can boost the symptoms of marijuana withdrawal. People who use marijuana without thinking of consequences also show a great deal of withdraw because there altered perception or ideas on marijuana and feel that they have a need for it.

The best way to avoid the symptoms are to use it in small doses and avoid taking it on a daily basis. Using marijuana takes allot of responsibility in deciding when the drug is appropriate to use at the current time. Its not good for a person to think that they can do anything "normal" while using marijuana because it leads to habitual use. it's like drinking and driving, Don't smoke if you are going to do something that requires allot of concentration , labor, operating a vehicle or machinery. Its just common sense.

The symptoms of marijuana withdrawal include but are not limited to:


irritability
anxiety
physical tension
decreases in appetite and mood
stomach pain
physical tension
restlessness
anorexia
insomnia
increased aggression / anger
strange dreams

Because Marijuana is an illegal substance, many people consider any use of marijuana as substance abuse. However, this is said because substance abuse is a maladaptive pattern of repeated substance use created by recurring common adverse consequences (effects and side effects). Not everyone suffers the withdraw symptoms of marijuana, and uses it just to have a good time, or for an recent injury that is causing allot of pain (broken bone,major burn, abrasion,chronic pain). Its good to practice to take a break from marijuana for a month or longer so the withdraw symptoms can be identified by the person themselves and countered with a few remedy's that really work.

Things that can help you take a break from marijuana include but not limited to,


writing a daily log of events
listening to music
taking walks
hanging out with someone who doesn't use marijuana
remind yourself to think positive
set an goal to achieve (an period of time to quit)
tell others what you are doing for yourself

There are many more ideas people can use to avoid the withdrawal symptoms of marijuana, as long as they are positive about it and not using some other drug or tobacco to cover the side effects. Having just one negative thought can trigger any withdraw symptom listed at the top of the page.

Lastly the strength to quit smoking marijuana comes from the person them selves. Marijuana should NOT be blamed for addiction because the effect it has. If you think you will have a problem using it, Don't use it then. It's all about responsibility.

i know we all want it legal but everything done to excess is bad...so some of these steps may help to kick the habit for a weak or 2
